To anyone who tries to play
Star Wars: Saga Edition on Vassal, it quickly becomes clear that the SWM Skirmish mod just isn't ideal:
-You can only ever have 4 active players (and one of them the GM) at a time. This means that the "observers" have to dictate their moves to the other players, and remind the other players to adjust their HP, Condition Track, etc.
-There is no viable way of creating brand new maps, and having the players gradually explore them. That's because the only maps available are the maps we use for the Skirmish game, and there is no way to create a "fog of war" effect over the unexplored portions of the map.
-The SWM Skirmish mod also requires further adjustments if you want to roll any dice other than a d20.
-Other minor annoyances, such as having to use the Condition marker to include a character's name.
The SWM Skirmish mod is certainly better than nothing, but it has its limitations. For this reason, I started creating a brand new Vassal mod...that is, I took an existing D&D RPG mod, and did some major edits to make it work for Star Wars. And finally, after 3 months, it's finished! And yes, there are TWELVE player slots, in addition to the Game Master slot!
Steps to playing Star Wars RPG on Vassal:1. Click this link:
http://www.4shared.com/get/v-mW0mnmce/Star_Wars_RPG.html2. Wait 80 seconds to be able to download the file (53 MB!)
3. When it is finished downloading, you'll have a file called "Star Wars RPG.rar"...extract/unzip it using a free program like WinRAR Archiver or WinZip. That will provide you with a single file: "Star Wars RPG.vmod".
4. Paste the "Star Wars RPG.vmod" file into your VASSAL folder, the very same folder which already contains your "SWMinis.vmod" file.
5. Double-click the "Star Wars RPG.vmod" file and it will load up on Vassal as normal.
6. At the top menu of the Vassal screen, click
Help --> About Star Wars RPG to open the .txt file with instructions for how to use the mod. Seriously, read it; it explains everything that you need, if you already know how to make the SWM mod work. After reading through that and experimenting a little bit, you should find it very easy to use.
Please post any comments or questions or bug-notifications in this thread; I'll respond to them as quickly as possible.
May the Force be with you!

UPDATES:
Please be sure that you have the most recent update! When you're playing the game online, you'll encounter problems if you are using a different version than the other people. Whenever you see that the mod has been updated, you should go to the 4shared site (link above) and re-download the file, then delete your old file. Whenever there is a new update, I'll list it here:
Version 1.0 (uploaded April 14, 2011). The original mod.
Version 1.1 (updated April 15, 2011). Added Force Points to all characters, and re-arranged how some of the variables appear on the units.
Version 1.2 (updated May 13, 2011). Added an "Effects" space to the character customization options, and also added all of the maps and tiles from the SWM Vassal Extramaps extensions.
