Its a mix of things, While utilizing the mix/match of Dash/Qui/Dark Woman you throw in a different style than Rex and R2. Captain Argyus and the Senate commando can both recieve the FP and the +4 bonus from qui-gon if the situation fits better.

You pump out the same amount of shots from the two characters but damage is slightly increased. Queen amidala is strictly for the survival of teh Senate commando and Rapport. r2 can allow for a deep strike with any of your characters.
