what are using for internet browser?

no it should be a movie file. Did you click into the folder to see what is in there?

If it is a movie file in there just move it to the folder you need it in. If not let me know and I can send you the file you need.

Wow!! Just a huge Thank You!!!! Followed it step by step and now I'm ready to rock and roll up at my folks house. I had somehow done it on my home computer a couple years ago, but couldn't remember how. But your tutorial was spot on ... and extremely easy to follow. And trust me, I'm the Lord of the Idiots when it comes to computers.

Okay, so now its installed and I can open it up and run a game. Where do you go from here. What is the eitquette for putting together your squads, doing your moves, using the ranged attack tile etc. Totla noob at this so I dont want to waste anyones time online while I bumble, or worse do something that is faux pas.

You're best bet is to look for a name on Vassal that you recognize from the forums, and then ask them if they'll help you figure it out. It's pretty simple overall. Just let people know that you are new to Vassal, and they should work with you.

Skype is also IMMENSELY helpful, as then you can simply talk with your opponent, rather than having to type constantly.

The only problem with skype is it can make it more difficult for people to watch games because you might forget to move the target things around. But it does make it easier to play.

Yeah, I use Ventrilo when I get a chance to hop on Vassal. Sometimes people would watch our games, and they had to be crazy confused because we almost never used the target things, scoreboard or basically any tools outside the character tiles and Die Roll tool.

Thanks, Dean. I appreciate the walk through you put together here.
(yeah, the screens have changed with the newer version, but the process you describe is the same)

I did this early last week and it works great. I've played a bunch of online games already and look forward to many more.

Kudos. 8-)

Hi guys -

does the latest VASAL mod (10.1) include all the maps, or does one still need to download them like shonw on page one of this thread? The VASAL website has been redone, and I cannot find the map packs.

TIA

I'm pretty sure the new mod has all the maps included.

biggsy, you must not have the newest mod loaded (10.1)

I can see all of MP4, Cargo Docks, Theed 2.0, Smugglers Base.

But I'm not seeing MP3, or the most recent issues from Mapmaker/AA, so some are certainly missing.

Oops you're right, i hadn't updated my MOD file  That's what happens when you don't use VASSAL that much. Pretty odd that map pack 3 is still missing though.

My latest maps, Strike Force Carrier and Boarding Action, both show up in the list in my Vassal. :)

Thanks again, NickName!
