It's hard to imagine Princess Leia when reading the Legacy or other modern EU stuff as a slim, petite Jedi warrior after seeing Carrie Fisher as an old woman. She has really let herself go. :(

And when I say old, I mean her appearance. In truth, she's not much older than 53, if I remember right.

Seems like she was 23 when she shot Empire, and that was 30 years ago.

Well on the bright side she wasn't fat in the movies.

I had the biggest crush on her. (I am sure I am not alone.) Bouncing around in that flowing white gown. Mmmmmm.

Of all her outfits, i doubt many would choose the white gown as their favorite. ;)

Sorry, just thinking of the first time I saw A New Hope.

If I were to choose from all of the movies I could come up with better, too.

In fact, one of the things that attracted me to my wife was seeing her in a Slave Leia costume on Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween:

My wife made me a Han Solo (A New Hope) costume and herself a Leia costume for a Holloween party (You had to come as a couple). We took first prize.

I've got the best wife in the world.

Well, yeah she isn't 23 still. It would be abnormal if she could still wear that slave thing with pride.

Well I'm not saying she should be in the Slave Leia outfit but I grabbed my Dark Nest Trilogy book and tried to imagine Carrie Fisher speaking Leia's lines of dialogue. Not good. It sounded more like Yoda (not backward English, just raspy like she was about to break into a coughing fit).

I mean c'mon, she's only 53. Patricia Heaton was 50 in the final season of Everybody Loves Raymond and she didn't look and sound like she was beat away from a heart attack.

For the record she is 51 - Born October 21, 1956

Also.... Patricia Heaton was not:

* - A star of film/TV when she was 18 - 21
* - Did not have famous parents as Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds...

I would also compare her to an NFL quarterback that are similar in age... like Brett Farve and Jeff Garcia... Both 47/48 but Brett has been on the front line taking the a lot hits and Jeff Garcia has not had as much spotlight...

Carrie Fisher was the Britney Spears of her time...

I saw her in a video from CIV. She doesn't look bad. I do remember some pics from years ago (probably early to late 90s), and she looked a lot worse.

I have to agree with Sithborg. I think she looks better right now than she did a few years ago.

This is kind of insulting.... :? depends on your outlook on Bspears I guess. She's a freakin train wreck and never had substance.

I'm not old enough to have had that Princess Leia crush, although I was ecstatic when I first heard Natalie Portman was going to be in Ep. I, given my celebrity crush on her at the time (still think she's the bee's knees :))...

To be fair to Carrie, she apparently did a lot of drugs when she was younger so that can't be too good for your looks. Looking at some of her more recent pictures, what she should do is grow her hair out a bit more and make a few wardrobe changes, both of which really make her look a lot older than she really is.
