Saturday, September 5th - Carbondale Civic Center in Carbondale Illinois

$10 entry to the Con
Doors open at 8 a.m. with Star Wars Minis games beginning at 9 a.m, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

(Edit: times updated again - correct times are 9, 2, and 7)

Lots of other gaming going on as well.
For more info see here: Little Egypt Wars

9 a.m. - Dynamic Duo

2 p.m. - 150 points constructed DCI

7 p.m. - 3-man team event (details below)

Luke_Skywalker wrote:

All DCI rules apply in addition to the following:

Pre-Tournament
1.) You must register as a 3-man team.
2.) Each person on the team must have a 100 point Squad ready to play with map.
3.) No team may possess multiples of any unique Star Wars Persona (1 Luke, Mara, Vader, Whatever. This eliminates the Squint/Malak fiasco)

Set-Up
During the setup of your round, each player reveals his/her squad.
Teams will each roll a dice (1 dice per team). The highest result selects 1 player from his team to play one player from the opposing team. The other team selects the remaining match-ups. Players sit down and play their matches as normal.

The team with the most victory points at the end of all 3 games is the winning team. Tournaments are Swiss rounds then a playoff for the top spot if no clear winner is presented within 3 rounds.

More info as it becomes available - hope some of you can make it! :)

I imagine it had slipped down quite a bit.
And now I'm guessing THIS forum is where yours was moved to
I see other events posted here...

So the times got bumped forward I guess?

It's just a block south on 51 from the store (Castle Perilous). It's a very large building comparibly to everything around it. Plus it looks new hehe. Hard to miss. There is parking in front of it and behind it I do believe. I also don't think you have to feed the meters on weekends if I'm not mistaken. I think the Castle site has directions to it in the event ad.

Address is 200 S. Illinois

If you are coming in on IL-13 from the east, you cross the railroad tracks then turn left at the 2nd stoplight (after Castle Perilous) onto US 51 south (University Ave), then 1 (short) block left again onto Monroe St. You will see it and the parking lot on the right.

From the west on IL-13, drive through town until you pass US 51 South (University Ave), then take a left onto US 51 North (Illinois Avenue), then the next left onto Monroe St. (you will be driving around the building at this point)

From the south on US-51, you cross IL-13 East (Walnut) then next left onto Monroe...

From the north on US-51, you cross IL-13 West (Main St) then next left onto Monroe...

That ought to cover it :P

Not really sure which way I'll be coming from, or even if I am coming at all. I had something... unexpected... come up that could put me in Carbondale this weekend.

A friend of mine who has lived in Seattle for the last 10 years is returning to the area, and has moved to Carbondale.

Hopefully your friend is a SW Minis player!
As always, it would be great to have you here for the event :)

Sadly, I cannot attend any of it due to other obligations all day

Not yet, but that is something I want to work on. He and I were Warhammer Fantasy players and he was one of the people in my college RPG group. I know he wants to get back into gaming, and SWM is probably a good fit for him.

Oh cool. Maybe that will bring you up our way more often. I just wish I had Monday's off to play with the group. I only get to hit the big events or on holidays which is coming up this Monday.

Very likely. Alan was my best friend in college.

Also of note, I just added a venue in southern Illinois that will be available to host star wars miniatures twice a month on Saturdays in Marion. As soon as I get the reporting software worked out I will bring that venue out. No doubt it will have some crossover players from the Carbondale group, but still more playtime is always a good thing :p

Have an idea of what time games will be played?

Can't wait for this saturday to roll around. I haven't been able to play on Mondays since school started back up. The beginnings of minis withdrawal has set in and I need my fix.

Oh man make sure to keep me informed of when you meet. It will be the first time I get to meet regularly. Our Sunday thing didn't fair well.

Had a great time. In fact, that was probably the first time in many years that I didn't come home from a Carbondale day of gaming and feel completely disappointed with the way it was organized. (Not specifically SWM, just the overall con.)

I'm actually looking forward to EgyptCon this spring, whereas normally Jim has to talk me into coming. :P

My only comment is that I hope Scott will work harder to get more vendors there than what he had on Saturday.

Look forward to reading the write-up about how Jason Alvey swept the entire 150 pt. tournament. :)

All the feedback I've heard from the SWM players has been very positive, which is great :)

The whole Egyptian Campaign thing this year was a mess, so I hope Scott will get to have a much bigger hand in organizing the next one. I know through conversations with him that he never really planned for the Saturday event to be big, but he did seem a bit disappointed that there wasn't more vendor interest.

I drove by the Civic Center while it was going on (out running errands) - it was a good thing I didn't have my gear with me or I would probably be sleeping in a tent in the back yard :P

There are a couple of things planned for spring that are going to be awesome. I'm pretty sure I will have to take off some work.
