http://www.the-holocron.com/index.php?o ... &Itemid=50

you may find it decent food for thought.

I think it was a great article Deri,.

I did not post on wizards because by the time I would have posted it had already turned into an argument. I feel like I should not post too much in the Gowk discussions at this point so I have been limited in posting.

I think your article actually sums up exactly what the playtesting and other months of looking into Gowk in a nice concise form. It is objectional just like the playtesting was and covers some great points.

Although it is lengthy I still think it was an easy read and generally just a terrific job in writing.

Thanks Dean.

It was diffilcult not to make it lengthy. I actually truncated the discussion about future figures as I felt it had discussed most of the main points.

I agree that your posting on Wizards at this time will generally attract more aggression that is nessicary.

its an unfortunate side effect of you being a DCI rep. You become the subject of angst for an error in design.

I hope it doesn't dissuade you from doing the fantistic job you are currently doing.

You know I have discovered I just need a talk show. Everyone I have personally talked to on skype about the ban has quit posting about it. They get my view on it and the thought process that was used (meaning it was not just my limited brain involved).

Maybe I should just post my skype user name and invite anyone who wants to have it out verbally with me about it to call me.

I really do want to thank you though Deri. Writing is hard and you have effectively communicated in written word what I can only do in spoken word. So I really appreciate that.

It really was a great article. People will take from it what they want, but I for one, could tell you followed the "Playing to Win" attitude out to it's fullest in your write up.

There was no right or wrong in the tactics used, or the choice of figures, etc. It was simply, this is what was best, and this is how you played it. Not that I doubted your ability, just trying to point it out to anyone who might have missed how you applied the Playing to Win concepts here to their fullest.

I very much enjoyed it, and hope you get around to doing those other map reviews one of these days :)

Your Starship map analysis remains the most read article on HOLOCRON for good reason.

I'd love for Death Star to be at the top of the list if you do another, but Freight Transit Station and Throne Room (Chancellors) are probably slightly better choices being easier to obtain and more played in the current environment.

Great read Deri! Objective, and a good overall look at things.

@Fingerandteeth
The article was very well written. I enjoyed the read. I can't really imagine the article being shorter.

@Dean
One way or another the call had to be made. There is postive and negative effects on the games either way it goes. Even though I personally was against banning GOWK, I have no intention of trying to stir up stang or be a part of all the GOWK mass hysteria at this point. It has completely devolved into gamer's just wanting something to freak out about at this. This is subject that just needs to die out. It is sad that they finally make a jedi that can stand up to shooters but they compeltely over do it. Anyway, thanks for being their to test, and help dci. The game definately needs it. Just happy to know the ban is done with time to help get people ready for Gencon.
