I have one Rancor, both Jabbas, Tamtel Skreej and most Fringe Un/Commons. I've got all of the Rebels up through Universe.

I'm trying to come up with a cool scenario for using the Rancor, and I'd like it to involve Jabba and Tamtel Skreej, and I'd like it to be Fringe (Rancor, Jabba) versus Rebels (Tamtel Skreej). Maybe use Princess Leia, Captive.

I'm thinking of using the Rancor Pit map, and having the scenario be something like So basically I'm thinking the scenario should be something like "Rebels escape from Jabba through the rancor's caves":

Fringe
15 Jabba, Crime Boss
33 Rancor
6 Vractyl Wrangler
54 ???

Rebels
23 Tamtel Skreej
13 Princess Leia, Captive
21 Luke Skywalker, Young Jedi
8 R2-D2
6 C3-PO
24 Chewbacca
5 ???

Would Boba Fett, Enforcer be too unbalancing? Any suggestions would be nice. Remember that theme is fairly important, so like the Kamodian Ascetic is just right out.

How about Bib Fortuna, or the B'omarr Monk? Ayy Vida could pose as a substitute for Oola (sp?), and a few Gammorrean thugs and guards might fit in nicely. A Weequay Leader would fit in scenario-wise, as well as any figure with rapport for Jabba.

I can't believe I forgot that I had Bib Fortuna. Great idea! I went with the 95 points of Rebels above versus 95 points of Fringe:

Jabba, Crime Boss
Bib Fortuna
Klatoonian Hunter
Gammorean Guard x2
Rancor
Vractyl Wrangler (I can't believe there is no Rancor Keeper figure!)

I love movie based scenarios. We need a Malakili with empathy for the Rancor.

you can also substitute the Twi'lek bodyguard for Oola the dancer.

So my buddy and I ran this, and it was totally lopsided for the Rebels (I played Fringe). The Rancor went down to Tamtel Skreej, Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker, Young Jedi in one round (Chewie got a critical, and each got one attack in), and despite getting a round in which every Rebel (except R2) was within reach of it's triple attack, it only managed to kill C3PO (damn Draw Fire!).

The rest of Jabba's party went down without doing any significant damage. In the end I almost managed to kill Leia (with Jabba) as well, but lost initiative and she killed him instead (fitting at least).

Having run it, I see that the Fringe side will need more points to compensate for the generally crappy cost-to-effectiveness factor of the Fringe faction. I think a few low cost shooters would go a long ways towards balancing the fight, as it would force the Rebels to come out and engage, making the Rancor far more effective.

Back to the drawing board!

I'd say a good idea is to give the rancor some custom stats to toughen it up.

Something like:

Jabba's Rancor

Cost: 40
HP: 120
Def: 20
Attack: +10
Damage: 20

Unique
Melee Attack
Melee Reach 2
Triple Attack
Savage
Regeneration 10
Momentum
Cleave
Speed 8

and add

Malakili:

Cost: 12
HP: 40
Def: 14
Attack: +6
Damage: 10

Unique
Melee Attack
Empathy
Mighty Swing
Rancor Keeper (Allied Rancors gain Regeneration 20)

You could also use positioning to limit some of the rebels advantages. For example, Luke and the Twilek BG in a room with the Rancor while the others are in a room with Jabba.

I rember that Wizards had a three part adventure involving the Rancor and Jabba. Here are the links:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=st ... le/Rancor1

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=st ... le/Rancor2

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=st ... le/Rancor3

It seems like a pretty decent adventure. You may have to sub in some figures though, but it is a start.

Great idea Emepror maybe give Malaakii Rapport with the Rancor and maybe do something to the Rancor like Impulsive Cleave if they kill Mallakii!

Or give the rancor improved momentum which would give +8 instead of +4.

This is my version:

Malakili
Cost: 8
HP: 30
Def: 13
Attack: +4
Damage: 10

Unique
Melee Attack (Can attack only adjacent enemies)
Empathy (Allies with Savage within 6 squares lose Savage)
Rapport (Costs 1 less when in the same squad as a character named Jabba the Hutt)
Goad (replaces attacks: adjacent ally affected by Empathy gains Extra Attack (On its turn, this character can make 1 cumulative extra attack instead of moving) until the start of the next round)

Commander Effect
Rancor allies within 6 squares gain Charging Assault +20 (Replaces turn: Can move up to 16 squares, then make an attack at +20 Damage against an adjacent enemy)

We need a new Luke

Luke Skywalker, Rancor Snack
HP: 80
DEF:18
ATT:+9
DAM:10

Melee

Bone Weapon-if this character is hit by a Huge living creature, Save 11. If the save is succseful the creature takes +30 Damage and if under the influence of empathy, automatically loses this benefit and is immune to it for the rest of the skirmish. If the save fail this character is defeated.

Force:3

Jedi Mind Trick
Force Leap
Knight Speed

Give the Fringe 130% of the Rebel point cost. This will allow for a few shooters to help out.
Maybe run the other Jabba and get Reinforcements
or
Run Crime Boss and get reinforcements every third turn as a scenario condition.

Just a couple of suggestions.

That's such an obvious solution that I can't believe I didn't think of it.

Thank you. Glad I could actually contribute on occasion.
