How is diagonal movement perceived? I mean, is it actually considered that you are moving diagonally or are you moving like regular movement

Example 1

Example 2

Example 1: Are you actually considered to be moving diagonally?

Example 2: Or are you moving over and up.

I know if four Caamasi Nobles are placed perfectly around your square (I realize any character can do this) you can't move at all right? So Example 2 must be in effect unless you have Flight or Force Leap, but yeah.

But if there is an enemy character along the left side of Example 2, but Example 1 is applied because you are moving "diagonally", does that character get an attack of opportunity (these movement illustrations are in the same place with the enemies in the same place on both)? I'm sorry if this is difficult to understand but I did the best I could explaining this. Please tell me what you think. Thanks.

You move diagonal. Not up and over. AOOs do apply (unless you have flight or something)

The only time you have to move up and over is if you are going around a wall or a wall corner. And even then, if it's a beveled corner, you can move diagonal past it. If it's a sharp corner (90 degree bend), you can't move diagonal past it.

You can always move diagonal past enemies, but the Attack of Opportunity rules are always in place anytime you LEAVE a squad adjacent to an enemy.

But what I'm asking is that is diagonal movement considered to be moving over and up (because it costs double which would be the same as moving over and up) or are you actually moving diagonally? If it's not considered moving over and up, why does it cost double to move diagonally then? I know about the wall movement but thanks Lobostele.

Oh, sorry Boba, I didn't interpret what you said correctly. Thank you.
