Are you requiring people to have Skype with a microphone for this? Wasn't clear from the post. I see you're planning to do 70 minute rounds, so I figured you're not requiring Skype, just thought I'd pose the question.

Not sure if it will matter to me though. I may not be around that evening.

hmm was trying to figure out how to drive 7 hours to play at the Lincoln regional. Would have been nice to try and figure it out to play for real and meet some of the folks, but this is really a no brainer for me to try instead! I love this place!

Well even if we are using skype we still need to call the person before the match and what not, so that will take time. I'd be more concerned with drops due to people not having fast enough internet. I have 10mps and still deal with echo sometimes, so if you get an opponent with DSL going 1.5 max there could be some issues.

one of the things is skype is highly recommended but not required. No skype means you may have trouble finishing games.

It is a free service and for games works great.

Also guys when you register you will give out your skype user name and we will post it so all can add them.

Good point!! Definitely need to schedule this on a different day then. What about the 28th instead? Would suck to automatically count out a large percentage of our West Coast players simply because they'll be doing their own Regional that day.

This has been thought of but we are up int he air because of literally the huge number of players that are involved in church work.

We want this to be the last chance regional for folks who came close and want to get some prize support and a badge without having to make a trip. But right now we are torn. I guess as people sign up if they want it on a sunday they need to sign up and say sunday is fine

Ahh...good point. I was thinking Sunday afternoon/evening, but that's because my church doesn't do anything on Sunday evenings, just in the mornings. Plus most of us have to be up for work Monday morning, so going too late Sunday evening could be problematic too. I see the point.

If you want to make it comparable to the other Regionals, could always plan it for early July sometime, and say "No JA pieces allowed" or something like that.

and just to add we are not doing this as a competition for Seattle's Regional business. If you live near there you need to go there and support that Regional. But if you have played in the New JErsey one or Cincy one and you came close and want another chance here it is. If you dont live anywhere near one hear is your chance. If you live in Canada and are going to Gencon here is your chance to get your badge paid for or reimbursed if you have already purchased it.

So we are not wanting or looking to take any Regional business but we are trying to give some a first chance and others a 2nd chance at a badge and some great prize support.

Well the problem with Early July besides the 4th is I believe the 27th is the last day to pre register for GenCon I think...I could be wrong but I believe one of the guys at my LGS pointed that out.

I guess I can get in on the next one. :?

I think Nebraska has thier regional on he 27th aswell. I am fairly sure atleast a few of us in washington would try to support this event if it weren't on the same day. But honestly...don't try shceduling around us at the moment. With 2 events per week and our awesome TO just passed away, so we have a memorial on the 20th.

I think its a great concept and I am all for events for the community as a whole.

no matter what we did people would be left out. since most Nebreska players dont play on vassal we werent worried about them. The WA group just started playing on vassal. The 27th was the best date for what we wanted to do.

I was trying to say not to worry about it. We have alot of events and it would be hard to schedule around anyway. I just wanted you guys to know we do have players that would be happy to support this sort of thing if the timing worked out. Mostly intended for future events.

I think its cool you guys put this together.

I don't know, if I will be attending. It all depends on whether I have internet access until then or not.

I only have a question about the prize support. Since I very likely won't attend GenCon, what will be the other prizes? IF I should be able to win, would it be possible to transfer the GenCon card to someone else?

Cheers,

~IkG
