Great report. Looks like you guys all hada good time.
Dennis it's okay to place 9th. My son faced all 3 of the tournies Gowk squads and lost to all 3 of them.

Your son hasn't been on a crusade to convince everyone how broken GOWK is or how easy it will be to win with it.

LOL, yeah. I think that was part of what has upset me about losing to James lately as well, lol, since he was playing a build that most of us had said wasn't a solid counter.

He wont play him the same way he wont play boba BH anymore. He doesn't feel etiical about it. He has supported my responces. But true if you lose with it it hurts the argument we've tossed up. Espically cosnidering you mentioned it was all on the dice that it went pourly for you

Madman has a good post on contacting folks if you have had a good time at the regionals.

Nah, I was just messing with you  Only other thing I saw was you missed the "a" in Jarael but that's really nothing, it's just my grammar police kicking in, not something you should worry about and have to change. It was a great report, thanks for doing it!

Yep, I know. :(

I'm honestly more ashamed of myself than anything at the moment, as I know that was pretty out of character for me. Again, sorry to all! :(

Funny thing was, in church the next morning, the pastor's sermon was about "Peace" and several things he said were like a knife in the gut because of how I'd acted on Saturday. No matter how much truth there was in what I was saying to James, it was said in the wrong way, and I realize that.

It actually really helped me realize though that I've been taking things way too seriously lately I think. Makes me really look forward to playing some fun squads, and the new set, and trying to re-focus on the FUN of this game. Hopefully I'll be able to keep that other side in check from now on. ;)

Hey Aaron,

I just wanted to say that is huge post right there. You made a mistake and you owned it. I want to say that your character level as person was always pretty high in my eyes but a post that like that you just really jumped even higher.

It takes a lot to say that especially publically in front of a bunch of folks who maybe had no idea what even happened. I just wanted to remind you that even though you may have stumbled on Saturday you have shown what a class act does when they do. Man I wish professional sports athletes would adopt this kind of attitude and policy.

Once again just wanted to say congrats to all and Cincy's now number 1 Mando: James

After the tournaments I came away with some thoughts on GOWK. One GOWK team went 1-4 with that win being a bye. I know she was young and not used to the squad, but wasn't one arguement that GOWK automatically makes a poor player good and very good players would be anbeatable?

That has been one argument, but it's been about as disproved as anecdotal evidence can disprove something. The average players with GOWK still don't beat the good players with good non-GOWK squads.

If it had turned out to be true, it would be a much more open and shut case. But it's not. The margin in skill needs to be much closer for GOWK to have an impact (which I still mostly believe to be true--he's still the best single piece but the question is by what margin.)

The other thing the regionals seem to be showing is that he's more vulnerable to the counters than anticipated. It doesn't take much more than a couple bad rolls or a mistake to lose when using GOWK against a good player with a counter and sometimes not even that. You can play pretty well and still lose. Counters seem to be shaking out to be pretty effective and not just hate--they aren't suffering in the non-GOWK matches.

It's surprising to me the CA regional seems to be the strongest argument to ban GOWK so far and he didn't even win it. We still have the Chicago one which is expected to be huge and teeming with strong players so that should be interesting.
