Next Friday my LGS is running a 60 point build tourny. One of my many ideas is GOWK + a Mouse Droid to hold gambit. Can GOWK handle a game like that where he won't be able to sit back and gain a bunch of FP before he moves into the thick of things?

hmm interesting point total. Well, are you as an LGS just adopting the all attack assumption? or are you following current DCI rules? Either way I think you have to guess what you oppnents would play. I would play Durge JH or Kyle BM me thinks, but that is just because I have a thing for Triple attackers that way if I go against another beat I have an advantage and if I go against a lot activations I can still attack multiple opponents. Or I could go with 2 Storm Commandos, Nyna, and Wicket. hmm yep like that one gives me protection, nades, init modifier, door control... could also miss alot. :P Obviously with GOWK it comes down to the rolls and your lack of damage output. If you roll hot than great, if not then you could be toast. Personally I wouldn't play GOWK unless the LGS rules all attacks.

I am also questioning the MD. I am guessing you picked it cause the high def, but why not use the Noble in this situation for gambit since Obi is obviously engaged with the other squad so they always see him?

Forgot about the Noble while I was spit-balling ideas. I was originally thinking of the MD having 28 defense in cover as long as GWOK was within 6. Then I remembered the ability itself was a CE.

I had pretty much moved on to Triple/Quad attackers in my thinking after I made the original post. Durge/Kyle were at the top of my list too. Durge tripling unique jedi from a distance at +17/30 plus his regen 20 makes him a strong option for this build, while Kyle's LS Duelist/Riposte will make it tough for other jedi to outlast him. Another lower point triple attacker I was also looking at was Kreia. Give her one of the force spirits for renewal/mettle and she has some potential for this type of build. Against Durge or other shooters she can cloak to deny them thier ranged attacks, but a melee beast like Kyle would probably wreck her once they were based. I was even looking at the Felucian Rancor with Ghost Obi thinking Parry with Renewal/Mettle would go far against most of what I might face aside from Durge who will at least lose his +4 from BH.

EDIT:noticed the fault with the Felcor/Ghost idea.

3 Vong JH could be great as well. A well timed Thud Bug could be a game winner.

I think you just have to guess what will be played against you the most and build accordingly. Pick either shooters or jedi and go from there. I think comfort is also big. I for one am really comfortable playing Tyranus LOTDS. I like the lighting and activation feature and would get 11 pts to spend on others.

A couple months back one of the kids where I play went 3-0 with 5 Vong Warriors in a 100 point tourny.

As far as the play what you're comfortable with idea I breifly considered Boba, Merc. At 58 points he'd have to go solo, but being able to use Intuition to either set up a double cunning when I win iniative or move away from a double/triple attack when I lose iniative would be nice.

Do you mean 5 Vong Jedi Hunters? Because I think 5 Warriors is only 40 points :)

Activations will help in this tourny format, but you also need a "focal point" to generate a lot of damage.

Mara Jade, Jedi? She's a good shooter, and she can be deadly up close, with Block for melee beatsticks that she can't kill outright. Plus, you can put in Lobot CLO for Recon (to help with cunning), Override to close and open doors at the right time, and hope for the 11 for reserves (but never rely on it).

PS: If anyone brings GOWK (which will probably happen) remind them that the current ruling is that SSM is Melee only - there has not been any errata issued yet. MJJ can shoot all day long, and he can't do anything about it (but I'd also establish this with the rules judge before the tourny ever gets underway).

Yeah, I meant Jedi Hunters.

If I had them I'd be considering Mara with 5 Mouse Droids to give her a bit of a screen for a few rounds of shooting before she bases.
