Unfortunately, though I have my badge sitting right here, I won't likely be going. Complex personal situation... if I do end up making it, then I'll be a drop-in surprise. Course, I'll be staying at a hotel in, what, Kansas? (about as close as one could get most likely)

I'm certainly going!

I just got a four-day voucher through a woman's magazine (don't ask... haha), so I just need to present it on Thursday morning, and they'll hand me my four day pass! (and I only spent 18 dollars for it!)

The trouble is you have to dress in drag the entire time you're there, as required by the magazine...:P

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna ask. Is it still possible to get that magazine? Cause I'd really love to be able to only pay $18 to get a 4-day pass to GenCon instead of the $70 or so I'm gonna have to pay at the door, lol...

I'm going. At first I had hoped to be going with Ruhk, but he had to back out, so I'll be driving by myself (from Ontario, Canada). I'll also be staying with Bill and friends. This will be my first ever live, real-life DCI tournament, so I really don't know what to expect.

I don't know Dean I think the guy I played in the first round last year would disagree with you.

Well I have joked (not with Jim directly) that he screwed up when he handed out the dice because he said, sarcastically, that he was going to have his clergy pray over my dice that they would do well for me at the Championship.

But I think he or Carl accidentally handed my d20 that was supposed to have been "powered up" to my opponent. Oops.

LOL

My die rolled terribly as well! I did find that if I dropped the die at the start of the round, it would start rolling high! Had to drop it on the floor, hard!

LOL< mine was horrid as well. I even picked it up a few times at home, and they only lasted a few rolls before they were moth balled again.

Interesting. Can't wait to see 'em!

On a similar note, I pulled out my GC '07 die to play with on Thursday at the LGS. Now, last year, I ended up losing to Divot in the semi-finals by rolling a 6 when I needed a 7. That EXACT SAME THING happened to me no less than 4 times on Thursday night, where I rolled a 6, needing a 7 or higher! Weird!

We did look around for lettered dice to give away this year, but I never heard how the search turned out. :P

I have never let that go with him, and those of you that were there for it shouldn't either.

It was a classic moment.

LOL, yeah, I wasn't standing right there when it happened, but I remember hearing the laughter, and the re-telling shortly later.

Would be great if Moses was able to get some sort of commemorative die, even if it just said "GC 2008" or something on it.

Had money not dried up so bad i was going to have a custom die made up for him that was letters instead of numbers. Those suckers are expensive.

Yeah, that's funny, I was checking out the Chessex website for the very same thing. Not too bad if you get a big group of dice, but otherwise you're paying out the wahzoo!
