Shield Support vs Characters with Lightsabers

Hello,

Question from tonights game:

We had the Republic Commando Training Sgt. and Rep. Commandos tonight going up against some jedi.

The question came up does the lightsaber ignore damage reduction? (i.e. shields)

I know it specifically says so on Dark armor, but the RCTS does not say anything about sabers.

Hi, Damage Reduction and Dark Armor specifically state that damage from adjacent enemies with lightsabers ignore those Special Abilities. However, Shields has no stipulation like that. Shields will reduce the damage by 10 for every roll you make over 11 (out of 2 for the RCTS's SA.)

it's one of those exceptions.

Flavor wise and i find best way to explain it is the reason the Commando's sheilds do work against sabers is thier Body sheilds, aka they HUG the body, unlike generic sheilds which form a bubble around the user.

what are you talking about? the only other "shields" that there are in the game are Molecular Shields which work in a totally different way. Lightsabers do not penetrate Shields. no exceptions.

How about Talons force bubble. That still reduces LS damage too.

That was another question that came up!

It says right in Force Bubble that it reduces ANY damage.

Damage from Lightsabers is only different on those special abilities that specifically say so. Lightsaber ignoring such damage reducing abilities is actually the exception, not the rule.

thats what I was saying, but since it seems to be one person in particular, he thinks I am ruling against him.

Another thing that came up on Wed was Accurate Shot vs a character with stealth in cover more than 6 squares away!!!

Luckly I had NN's handy dandy stealth guide printed up and with me!!!

Yes you can target character with Stealth and who are more than 6 squares away, so long as you have accurate shot..

yeah I knew that.....and I had NN's stealth guide with me so I was able to show him the rules!!!
