1x Shaper - 21
2x Vong, JH - 40
1x Advance Agent, Officer - 11
1x MTB - 8
5x Uggy/Ewok - 15
1x Camaasi Noble - 5

I will be facing a 100 points NR era tournament next weekend. I think about playing the above JH squad. Unfortunately I only have 2 JHs, so they will have to do (maybe I can get 1 from my LGS). Now the Shaper is a no-brainer really for me, but what else?

I decided to go with the AAO and the MTB engine since I don't have to worry about San Hill (or Nute  ) in the era tournament. The MTB will ensure that my JHs will go first and gain Cunning through the AAO. A real pain could be Han GH, but there is nothing I can do about that. Is there anything else anyone of you can think of to make this squad better (baring in mind that I only have 2 JHs)? Maybe drop the Noble and a MTB sacrificial for a Vong Warrior?

Any suggestions are welcome!

What about Yomin, do you have him? I would build the squad around 3 Vong JH. Yomin Carr is 19, so then if you don't end up getting another JH before the tourney than play him in it's place. Ranged 20 dam with Yomin and the poison really make up for the AAO IMO. My experience with the AAO is typically you waste him as your 1st activation so that he is within 6 of your JH by the time he can move 6 to attack your target to get the cunning, so a waste really. I really don't like the idea of playing a tourney with the MTB without a sure fire way to kill him when you want to either, but that is just me. In fact I would rather play with Yomin and 3 JH and no Shaper if I had to pick. In the games I have played with the shaper he is overkill when you are attacking fodder and most of the big baddies are force users so 2-3 JH would take them out without the shaper damage anyway.

@Fool: I think that Lobot is only there to bring in MTB because you might encounter San Hill and thus get serious problems. So I am not too worried about that.

Umm, and which legend? I hope you don't mean me. I am not nearly as legendary as people say...

@Boba52: I have NO experience with Vong at all (last time I played them was over a year ago), so I can't really say. Yes, Spit Poison is nice to have, but I don't like the 50% chance of saving and thus wasting my JH. I'd rather engage even if I can't attack that round, only so I can use twin next round (or when I get an aoo). I expect big, bad guys like the Battlemaster, Han, Mara and Dodonna (yes, he is very popular around here). The MTB isn't really played much around here. We have very cautious players at my LGS, so it might even be a surprise for them to encounter init control. I hope that 6 minis to feed the MTB will be enough to make sure none of my main minis dies too early through him. But point taken, this squad can backfire pretty badly.

To make clear what can be played, here is the list of minis allowed for the tournament:

We have the following builds now:

Squad 1:
2x Vong JH - 40
1x Shaper - 21
1x AAO - 11
1x MTB - 8
5x Uggy/Ewok - 15
1x Camaasi Noble - 5

Squad 2:
2x Vong JH - 40
1x Shaper - 21
1x AAO - 11
1x Lobot - 27 (reins: MTB + 4 Uggies/Ewoks or Lando DS)

Squad 3:
2x Vong JH - 40
1x Yomin Carr - 19
1x AAO - 11
1x Lobot - 27 (reins: MTB + 4 Uggies/Ewoks or Lando DS)
1x Uggy/Ewok - 3

I personally tend to go with squad 2 come to think of it (thank you for the Lobot remark  ). More squad ideas? Votes for or against a certain build?
