I got started on my Tatooine/Mos Eisley Spaceport last night and have some pics to shar.

Most, it is corugated cardboard out of packed materials like computers, printers or what not. I bought some evaporator's from the Luke Hasbro figure that was out recently and some foam balls for domes. The Imperial Garrison is made from a computer monitor. The Falcon is form the vintage Kenner line. My good friedn Bob (Squid89) has Chulum's Cantina already made, so it'll be able to be swapped in whenever we'd like.

You can check them out here at photobucket.

Enjoy!

Paint application and griding is next!

Arn't you afraid the wampa is gonna melt?

Actually
it looks like you 've made a great layout using my new fav. medium- Card-fiber packing trays!

What did you use to make the Vaporators?
I used Spark plugs and the rails frm modle kits

They are from the last Hasbro Tatooine Luke that was produced. The Luke was bad, but the accessory is great!

Asked over at WotC:

"How do you plan on painting them? Spraycan, airbrush, or handbrushing?"

The pink board will get a coat of acrylic paint, then some glue rolled on and then coated with sand for texture. In order to grid the whole board, I will use a Sharpie to mark the streets underneath the paint coat.

I'm going to try a creative way to grid it by using a string to act as paint tape to sort of keep the dark line intact. The idea we came up with is based on a baseball diamond when you see the chalk line, by the end of the game it is sometimes blurred out, so a light spray over of paint and sand will wash it out, but not entirely.

As for the foam structures, they'll get an acrylic coat of tan or off white and then maybe some spray paint app too. You have to be careful with spray paint because it'll eat away the foam or cardboard ruining it.

Most of the structures will remain the color they are or get a coat of tan/off white, but with many of the Mos Eislyer buildings from the Cross Sections book by DK, you have many different colors and shapes, so it'll actually take less work to make them look like they belong. The Evaporators will probably get a different look to them since they have a pink wash to them right now.

The Falcon will get an entirely new paint job.

The Imperial Garrison will be very static and a light to medium gray look to it. The Garrison is suppose to stand out and be obvious amongst the streets of Mos Eisley.

My friend (Squid89) has the Cantina made already, so it'll blend in well.

As time goes on, I'll come up with my paint apps for the buildings so they all have a different look to them.

The area furthest away in the picture is the Mos Eisley Marketplace. It'll have apartments like on Mos Espa (E1: TPM) and some other vendor stalls not pictured.

Other than the Vendor Stalls, I have everything I need to get this done pretty soon.

I am looking into getting a Hasbro Sandcrawler to mod out to make playable and then a Rebel Transport to mod out as a wrecked Dowager's Queen.

I don't know if you've noticed or not-
but the last 2 sheets of "Pink Stuff" I bought-
has a Thin layer of plastic!

For the life of me I couldnt figure out why my stuff kept peeling, and wouldn't stay "stuck"

one of the fellows from our GW/40K crowd showed me how to peel it back...

Got to play on my Mos Eisley Spaceport 3D terrain last week, took some photos. I don't have it gridded yet, but we played on it easily without the 1-inch squares.

It ended up being a really well balanced scenario. My friend Squid89 has made the Cantina and all the patrons, so we included a recruitment scenario where a player could become adjacent to a particular patron to recruit them into your squad. You could do this for a cost of 10 hp. You then could only recruit two per activation, up to four new characters to add to your squad in one round if you placed two pieces adjacent to two characters each.

We also added victory parameters to the game too. For the Rebels, four uniques, Luke, Obi-Wan, Han, Chewie or Biggs had to leave the Cantina and make it through town to Docking Bay 94 to win. The Imperials were the resistance.

As well, as an added bonus, the Rebels could add in RS Luke, Rebel and RS Obi-Wan if they were defeated in the Landspeeder, entering the board in that location, but at half their hit points.

I ended up losing Obi-Wan on a Riposte and had already lost Luke on the prior attack to lose the scenario. Had I avoided the riposte, I would have made it to Docking Bay 94 and won.

We started out with 200 point squads.

Very enjoyable scenario.

Enjoy the pics.
