if you force push an adjacent enemy, to death, and the enemy has self-destruct does the force pusher take damage. my feeling is they would as it usually reads damage first then back X spaces second. sorry if this has been asked. thanks in advance

you are correct, you assess damage from the push before the movement. if it is enough to kill the target, then any effects that occur because of it's death take place, such as self destruct or Mon Mothma's deathblow CE

Read the latest rendition of the FAQ on the general WOTC page for SWM. I believe the 'Resolution of Effects' section is under the 'General' part of the FAQ. Anyways, it gives exactly the order of how to resolve effects as to when they occur.

In the world of Force Push, you assess the damage first. If the damage is enough to defeat the target, then it is immediately defeated. The movement from a Force Push does not happen until AFTER the damage has been assessed, and all "when defeated" effects are resolved.
