for the "OFFICIAL" event (April 11-13) it will be a CHOICE

based on the email we recieved store organizers can Choose to do a CONSTRUCTED 150 point match
OR
a Special Scenario (details to be revealed later)

as far as the release weekend...?
whatever your store decides....

I'm hoping that my FLGS does 150.

Not entirely true. close but your missing a few.

Official dci events still must follow all the standard for events (4+ people, be 100, 150 or 200, be constructed/limited/sealed).

I know mine, which is like i think one of the few Sanctioned release events for LOTF in my province, is going like this.

-150 Sealed.
-followed by a limited constructed (only lotf peices) (most likely 100 i'll bet as faction rules will apply)
-Followed by a league of semi organized free play, all with prize support and freebies galore. (note: the constructed might get dropped if the TO deems time to be short).

So the "official" release event is not until April 11th even though the set is officially released on the 28th of March? And "officially" it's 150 Sealed Booster? Where does one check for this info?

You have to check your LGS. My LGS has already posted they are having their tourney Fri 3/28 on their website. I think their is a big D&D event or something going on that weekend so WOTC is encouraging some LGS's to hold the SWM event later, but not 100% on that. Since nobody does any D&D minis at my venue it is not an issue.

Yeah, you are simply going to have to check your LGS to see what they are planning. The Official WOTC sponsored events are scheduled for the weekend of April 11th, because there are also D&D Minis events going on the weekend of March 28th. I know the two stores I play SWM at are still doing Sealed SWM events on the March 28th weekend, but that's basically just something we're doing on our own, no WOTC prize support or anything like that.

Same for me. The main store I play at is running there own sealed game the 28th then the new place that recently opened is doing there own the 29th. No idea what point total either place will use.

Good info from everyone. One of our LGS's is doing a sealed booster on the 29th, but not sure what point value yet. Since the owner is a friend of mine, I think I'll ask him to make it 150...although a 100 would be more challenging I think. The other LGS is doing two tourneys on the 29th. From what I've been told 1st in both will each get a case! Boy, she knows how to bring 'em in! Last release tourney we had about 16 players.

I just saw today that the one store will be doing an official release sealed booster 150 pts on April 12th.

With all the high cost pieces, I think that the 150 varient would be the best. It allows for the best options, and personally more fun. Getting a Caedus and a Fett and not being able to use them both in 100 would be depressing-haha. :P . I think my LGS will be doing 150, so I'm happy. :maul:

I'd be really careful about doing a 100 point tourney. If you are doing 2 boosters, there's a VERY good chance that you'd end up only being able to use 1 of the 2 Rares you get in your 2 boosters if you set a 100 point limit. There's more than enough high-cost pieces in this set to EASILY do a 150 point squad out of 2 boosters, even if you pull some of the lower point cost Rares. And if you do a 100 point tourney, with only 1 booster, there's a good chance somebody might pull one of the really cheap rares, and then not have enough other points to reach 100 points. Of all the different sealed events I've done so far, the 150 point ones have been by far the most fun.

Great minds think alike, aye Aaron. :palps:

...Yes and No

it's their choice to "Release" the product early... if they have it, they can sell it (at their own risk...)
WOTC has STRICT Street date rules

perhaps they are not Actually "selling" it untill midnight-
what we in Cincinnati often call a "Midnight Run" 8)

LOL, nice.

Yeah, we know that our store here in Cincinnati got into some trouble a few sets back because they sold some product in a similar way, and one of the other local stores found out and complained to WOTC about it. So, it isn't too smart of them to go about advertising that they are selling things early.

Now...like Madman pointed out, they may not techinically be selling it until AFTER the event is over (i.e. collect $30 in case from everybody, and then put it in their computer system later, or something like that). I know that for the last few sets, we have typically been doing what we call a 'Proxy Sealed' event on the night before the release, since we usually have all of the stats by that point, and we just use Chuck's MiniManager to determine the squads and then proxy in pieces for whatever we're playing with.

Hmmm, i'm thinking 150 is a good number for a 2 booster sealed event. I'm not seeing an official list from Wizards of all the release events yet..

@Fox, you mean OMG games, do you know if their release is official/sanctioned by wizards/whatever.. ?
