When a new LGS oppened in town and sold through their minis real quick I got exited. I put myself on a list to start playing weekly or monthly tournements. After 9 months I'm still the only one on the list. The owner keeps asking people if they want to play, but everyone keeps telling him they're just collecting. Oh well.

Sounds to me, Chuck like he needs to start running Demo's. While i got sucked in by running across a couple guys (who i started playing with till they all vanished) playing a game. Most people who collect can be converted to players by giving them the opportunity to actually TRY playing the game. If they are coming in to buy, then getting to play is just a issue of that first game.

@ Chuck
Man that's weak. The LGS i go to is Jester's Playhouse, NorthField NJ. I'm in Toms River. . .For those who don't know that's close to 2 hours. My mom REFUSES to drive me, so me and Xanthan hang out and I got with him (his parents are much cooler then mine.) But that means we have to both be free, and I have to get my mom to drive me and pick me up from his house-20 min. If only kids got to choose their parents. . .

Another frustrating thing is scoring that critical hit on either a droid, or on a character who is down to their last 10 HP, or worse on a 10 HP character with a character who has Flurry and there are no more legal targets.

Weak, a half hour difference in drive is weak? Although if there was a bowing smiley I would have put it up here for you :D !
I guess I just haven't found anything to be that frustrated about in this game yet other than having no one close to play. Even when playing Shinja and he shot my Ug, and then Lobot locked the door behind my Blizzard Scout separating it from the rest of my troops in the second round of our match; I was still having a good time :P !
I am sorry your parents won't drive you though, that is a drag.

Obviously the sarcasm and laughter didn't come across in my voice either!

But hey, we're over a thousand miles apart and I can just barely make out your voice!

Slow play by my opponent when I'm losing. I know, I'm an impatient prick for saying that, but I feel like I'm being punished for playing it out when my opponent still takes 2 minutes every phase after they have a huge lead. Seriously, just run in and roll and he'd win!

How many times do I have to apologize for this, geez

Or how bout when your are playing your 6th Vassal game ever on a map you've never played on and you have 5 activations left in the rd and your opponent is done and you see this typed...11:56. Now you know that the person who taught you everything you know about Vassal, so you think he is a god, is keeping track of how long you take to finish out the rd becuase he would rather be playing someone else to get another game in that night... Was that out loud? Sorry, I have PASS. Passive Aggressive Sarcasm Syndrome. :P

Hmm...

Well, before GenCon this past year, I probably would've said what frustrated me most was Boba BH, LOL. I know I know, so cliche. Seriously though, before GenCon this past year, I had NEVER rolled a disintegration against anything that had more than 20 HP. And most of the time, it was a stupid Ugnaught or some other crappy piece. Oh, and then I've had Madman disintegrate my Lord Vader two different times, with the very first shot that Boba took at him, lol. One of those times was like in the 5th or 6th round of a game, where I had done an exceptional job at keeping Lord Vader out of LOS. First time he starts to mix it up....bang: 20. But at GenCon, I played with Boba BH a little bit, and I got a couple of decent Disintegrations for myself, so I'm much less irritated by it now. :P

So....most frustrating thing now? Probably the young kids that come to our venue and no matter how many times we ask them, they typically do not build their squads until they arrive at the store, 30 minutes before we're supposed to start playing. I'm trying to get my pieces out, and get the DCI software up and running, and they're asking me left and right "what do you think about this idea?" or "I have 34 points left, what should I use?" At least one or two of them have finally downloaded MiniManager, so it's got a little better.

When I have to field this question, I normally answer with the most horrible choice possible with the factions they are playing.

One of the young teenagers at my LGS does that too, Lobo. He complains that he doesn't have as many pieces as I do, so I usually have to build him something out of my pieces to make him happy. :x

Heh, well, there was one night that the one kid (who really likes to play Vong) asked to borrow my Warmaster. No problem, so I pull out the card, and the figure, and give it to him, and go back to doing whatever I was doing. About 5 minutes later, he hands Warmaster back to me "I don't think I'm going to use him after all". Oh, OK, no biggie, put it away. Then like, 5 minutes later he comes back "Changed my mind again, can I have Warmaster back?" Sigh....OK, get him back out, get the card....

Everybody starts moving to the tables to start their first round games. I look, and there's my Warmaster sitting next to my case again. The kid decided again, not to use it, LOL. So, now, anytime he asks to borrow something, I usually tease him with a "You sure?" and a smile a few times before handing anything over. :P

We had a few kids like that. Except it was trading.

If you shake hands, the deal is done. You better believe it when I say I shake hands EVERY time I do a trade, even with long time friends (or younger kids). The kids think it is strange to shake hands, but they understand it is the deal closer.

It wasn't so much like that, it was more they would trade for the piece, and as often as the next week, they would be trying to trade it.

Well, I know plenty of people who will trade one thing from somebody just so they can trade it off to another friend. Heck, that's how I got my Boba Merc from TFU. I had an extra Revan, and a friend really needed it to trade another friend of his for Thrawn.

Though, I'm guessing it's a situation where they acted like they really wanted that specific piece for themselves, and not just for further trade bait. I can see that being a bit annoying.

Why would you do that? To children?

If they are asking your opinion, it's because they respect it, not because they want to be mocked. Wow that is sad.

Yeah, I gave up on trading with the locals. There's too much of a bidding war going on, where kids are trying to broker the best deal for themselves. I finally told them I don't play that sort of game. Of course, the other adults in the room all backed down, too, and the kids ended up not being able to trade for anything.

On the subject of trading....

A most frustrating thing for me was the A&E release. I was away over the Memorial Day weekend holiday, so the set came out, and my local friends broke open their cases, and traded, traded, traded. I didn't get to pick up my cases that I'd ordered from the LGS until a week after the release, and by that point, EVERYONE else in my playgroup had either traded away all their extras, or already put them up on Ebay! Within a week! It was quite frustrating, and so it took me quite a while to get my hands on a few of the more 'key' pieces from A&E. Luckily I had some stellar pulls in the two cases I bought, and won 1st place at our LGS several weeks and got good picks of the prize support.

Let's just say, buying a lot less of TFU, I was able to complete my set MUCH quicker than A&E just by being around town to trade with everybody, lol.

I prefer them to make their own mind up on what to play. I would not want to influence their squad creation one way or the other. Besides, when I answer 'Assaj' or 'Agen Kolar JM' or '11 ewoks' they know I was kidding and know I expect them to finish their squad on their own.

It all stems from fielding COUNTLESS questions on how to spend the last 50 points or so in Warhammer 40K. Pretty soon, I just said add an empty rhino (transport vehicle).
