OK, this is kind of a strange idea, but here goes:

Thrawn
Mas
Jabba, Crime Lord
Rodian Vigo

Add (about 4) Caamasi. Add some solid non-unique fringe shooters, or perhaps a good mix of melee/shooters.

Your first wave of Caamasi can attack at +7 for 10 damage, and will act as a screen for your second wave of shooters, who will be using them (and natural cover) with the RBSV's CE to avoid being attacked. The shooters should be very difficult to target, and get a huge boost out of Thrawn/Jabba's CEs.

Firstly, is the idea viable?

Secondly, what would you use as your non-unique fringe filler? Rodian Scoundrels? Mustafarian Soldiers? Corellian Pirates?

Let me know what you think.

I was under the impression that no matter what the Caamasi couldn't shoot, even if they had cunning.

Ruling?

Oh no no....if you have a way to boost the Caamasi's damage above 0, then yes, they can attack.

I'm not 100% certain on the use of the RBSV and the Caamasi though. I think you have the idea correct, but everytime I play the RBSV, I usually end up forgetting some weird interaction it has and shooting myself in the foot. Could certainly be interesting though.

The thing with RBSV and caamasi's, the CN's don't count as a legal target, so an enemy without accurate can still shoot someone behind the CN (unless you base it with the CN, in which case it just moves away from the CN.) I believe an enemy with accurate can still target the nearest follower behind the CN's, as well as any droids or commanders. So the RBSV wouldn't be too helpful, IMO.

As for other fringe followers...I've seen a Felcor used quite effectively, as well as Corellian Pirates. Rodian Scoundrels get +4/+10 either way, cunning or Opp, so it's up to your venue, as far as what the other players normally run. Instead of a rodain BSV, I'd go with a Rodian Hunt Master, though, so those CN's shoot for 20...:D

I hate to say it, but Hothie has it.

This particular combo will not work least as far as the Noble's providing cover (as on the surface they would need to be in cover themselfs for this to work).

BUT part of Diplomat is that it states "does not count as nearest enemy" meaning your fringe shooters will always count as nearest.

Sorry dude.

What if you use a few Abyssin Black Sun Thugs to be your fringe shooters? It's probably too much cunning but you could choke a doorway with the CNs and get a couple of shots off with the thugs before you reroute the opponent squad the way you want them to go. Don't think it would be all that competitive with so many points going into the gimmick, but it'd be a funny squad to frustrate with.
