Okay, Dnemiller suggested this. So i thought i'd test the waters a bit with a poll.

It's a simple concept. Since people seem to love the custom signature images i made for Fool, Dvader etc.

Would you trade a mini i need for a custom signature image?

edit: Okay, i think Xan's post pointed out something.

I'm not talking about just avatars, but Signature Images (liek the one below these words with "master slicer" on it.

ie here's fools

I also voted no. Even if it was only for the cheapest common I'd have to pay for a box to pack it in and postage to mail it.

I'm actually part of the graphics team on another website, so I'd have to say no. But I wanted to post to say that you do some high quality work. Very nice!

Thanks guys, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for.

Dnemiller suggested i do this, but i wanted to really test the community waters to see what i could expect when i put up my trade thread, that dean suggested.

See while i am glad you guys like the pretties i crank out, i've never had great opinion of my own work, but past experience has shown me that if i offer it with no strings, it quickly snowballs into something unmanagable.

If you don't ask for anything in return will will be flooded with requests. My home board was loosely based on Final Fantasy and they have Gil there that you earn and can use to buy upgrades to your account. They have a forum there where the graphical types like you can show off thier stuff. Then if anybody wants an av or sig made they pay for it with the Gil they're earned. Even then most people who are any good still get flooded with requests.

I also say no. I like my avatar, and giving up a prized mini for a cool profile just doesn't make sense to me.

Well no one says you have too SirStevee.

Obviously it's totally voluntary. And i've yet to even post a list of what i need. I'm not about to demand rares or anything.. what people are willing to offer is up to them. once i've started the trade thread.

all I'm thinking of offering is a custom made to order Avatar or Signature image in trade for a mini.. heck commons i don't have is fine too. (this was Dnemillers idea to help me complete sets).

You might have better luck too if you did as an add on to a trade. Say you've already agreed on a trade of Rare A for Rare B then if the other trader needs an av or sig image done that can be added on to the main trade.

I think your idea Fox can be used as a deal sweetener. Say you have a trade set up, but the other guy isn't so sure. Throw in your service, and then the other guy is sure. It's a good way to secure trades.

Some other sites charge $5 to put up an avatar; I suppose that's a fair deal with freight included for a common.

I don't think I've ever seen a site that charged actual money for anything like that. I've been on a few where there's a type of board money set up and you can earn and use that for certain upgrades, but never real money.

yeah.. I've seen the real money thing too.

the reason this was suggested to me was well. I don't have alot of doubles/money. or else my sets would of not sat at 12 left for most of them *aside from CS & universe which are a like nothing from the whole set*)

Do I expect ppl to be beating down my door.. Oh hell no. will it limit the amount that ask. certainly, which was my only real concern.

I'll pony up and say that Fox did an excellent job on my avatar and signature, so I've dedicated one extra rare from my GenCon lot towards the great white north, and I will be sending it out soon! Great job, Fox!
