I really enjoy using my chainsaw. Working outside with ear protection, long pants/shirt, boots and gloves is a blast. Do you have a few trees to remove from the lawn?

We lost both trees in front of our house the winter before last. Lucky for us the chain reaction that took out both of our trees was started by the trash truck so the city took care of the full removal.

It was 5 years ago that Kalamazoo had straight line winds (50-60 mph). It was strange to see all the tree's pushed down in the same direction (like Mt. St Helens in Washington state, I flew over the volcano 19 years ago).

Chainsawing is how my father-in-law and I spend time together. Wearing ear protection and cutting up trees is a great past time.

The only outdoor work I enjoy is using my 2-cycle engine powered weed wacker. I dunno why, but it is intensely fun seeing the grassline disappear as I methodically move the yard tool over the pesky lawn. I imagine using a chainsaw would bring equal glee from me.

I was a just a bit too young to play with the chainsaw when Hurricane Hugo went through Virginia and snapped all sorts of trees in our backyard. We lost a huge poplar, and quite a few hickory trees (the ground was so saturated, they just toppled over with their roots exposed).

I was going to post that before I remembered the thing about the trees at my house.

Actually, it looks like things are pretty bad in the Midwest right now. I hope all of you are OK.

I was really surprised no one had. When I find something like this I am usually not the first to think of it.

Times like these I am glad I live in the desert.

I would much rather have 50+ days over 110 like we did this year than have to worry about ice storms.

Again, hopefully all is well.

Local weather report.

Sunny 72.

And that's the weather.

I feel bad for ya, Dean. Maybe you should move out of the mid-west.

EDIT: Yesterday it was 45 degrees here and heavy thunderstorm. Crazy.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo tempted. But then I remembered you're a Cowboy's fan. And then I remembered I don't even have a chainsaw.

I have one I can send. It spits out oil everywhere, though. You look like you just capped a new oil well when you are done cutting up that wood.

Hope all is well out there...another storm is coming across. CT got some ice a few days ago and now it's over 50 degrees. I don't know what kind of winter this will be. I only have 1 tree in my yard and it's a sapling; no chainsaw for me just clippers needed.

Hey that looks like my summer! minus the snow on the ground, that is. From mid-July through the first week of September I helped cut, split and stack nearly 100 cord of wood. I never want to cut another piece of wood in my life!

Do you have a wood burning stove? Or are you going to have a big bonfire in the spring.
