So given the latest changes to S.604 of the floor rules, the following changes to the FrostyCon 200 point constructed are now in effect...

After random D3 rolls we shall be using both Restricted A and C. Ordinarily I'd go with only one list per the rules but given there are some obscure and new map selections, I felt two list selections were in order.

This will not be the case for the WNY regional in the spring.

Just saw one of Jake's V-set 5 customs, and all I can say is "WOW!".

It's gorgeous, and it will come with a spoiler preview of the stats as well!

Double bonus - preview and custom all in one!

Since Jake mentioned this, I've been eagerly waiting to see what he's going to come up with. Here's hoping he'll be able to unveil his craftwork in person at FrostyCon.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen. :(

But I'll be there!

As we are now at Z-minus 7, I would like to get an idea of who will be staying at Chez Nader next weekend.

Definite... Timmer, Hinkbert, jak & captaingig (Friday only)

Possible... Jake, DarthMalus, Malus' Apprentice & emtjoe

So who all's a coming to get their hands on some great prize support?

For Friday's KotR contest...

Each KotR contestant shall bring a 200 constructed four character squad, which adheres to normal faction interaction. At the start of the contest we will look to see how many brave souls have accepted the challenge to determine ring pairings.

So the following mix will be in effect for the opening round...

3 players - one ring
4 players - one ring
6 players - two rings, three contestants
8 players - two rings, four contestants
9 players - three rings, three contestants
10 players - two rings, five contestants
12 players - three rings, four contestants

Should the number of players be 5, 7 or 11 it will be my duty as host to bow out of the KotR. As this creates an imbalance within a particular ring. Each contestant will be assigned a number for the round which will determine character deployment. Our ring girl Lady Nuthenge shall randomly roll the appropriate polyhedral die for the contestant, then a d4 for the specific character. Combat could conceivably ensue as late as round six based on the die rolls. Initiative will behave as normal, standard d20 descending order of roll.

As a contestant eliminates a character from the ring those points are awarded to the player who scored the kill shot, contestants should keep an accurate accounting of their kills as it may determine their passage to the elimination round.
Opening round finishes when there is only one contestant's forces remaining in each ring. The survivors receive the auto bid to the elimination round while highest kill total non survivor/s shall fill out the final four. Repeat process in the elimination round until two contestants remain the round survivor and highest kill point from the elimination round.

The final round shall be played slightly differently than the previous two round where in each combat round both players will have a random character selection rolled, so as to make it as equitable as possible. The final round shall be played on the KotR trophy crafted by Pastorbudwine and it is a thing of beauty. So three rounds in all, should play fast so we can get to other silliness.

Survival of the craftiest, fittest and most importantly the luckiest! ;)

One last thing, alliances are expressly frowned upon in this format as DQ's are possible.

Way to go Josh! It looks like you're using my squad design that I came up with at the bar at Gencon this year. It looks like you've got some good potential matchups (squad-wise, that is) in the playoffs too.

I should clarify. Those are the final results. I won.

I've been itching to try the squad TinT. It was an uphill battle a few times, but the squad was excellent. I'm glad for your eureka moment at the Hooters.

Haha, I remember that night in the hotel. We all had trouble thinking of anything that could consistently beat that squad.

Anyway, congrats Josh. It's cool that a Dass squad got 2nd place, he's a favorite of both Graham and I, and Graham has had pretty great success with his Dass Jennir Super Star squad, placing pretty high at one of the tournaments at GenCon a few years back. It might have been the Mystery Map, or maybe one of the Jedi Challenge events, but he got like 2nd or 3rd. I'm sure the squad could be improved now. Was the SpecForce technician in it? That seems like it would be a good choice.

He used the spec force technician.

We had 4 previews (along with 2 customs of 2 of them to win). I'm on a tablet right now so I can't post them easily but I imagine Nader will then.

Here was my squad in the 200:

--Dass Boot '13--
32 Dass Jennir
27 Lobot
27 Luke Skywalker, Rebel Commando
19 Princess Leia, Rebel Commando
18 Twi'lek Black Sun Vigo
16 Elite Rebel Commando
16 General Crix Madine
15 SpecForce Technician
14 General Rieekan
9 General Dodonna
6 Mouse Droid x2

(199pts. 12 activations)

SpecForce Tech was my MVP by far.

Lots of making our collective brains bleed concerning "immediately after initiative is determined" abilities on both sides. More questions will be posted in the rules forum.

Epic tournament champion squad:

--Epic NPE!!!--
132 Darth Maul Shadow Hunter
57 General Grievous, Droid Army Commander
90 X-1 Viper Droid x2
36 Darth Sidious
90 IG Lancer Droid x3
20 T-Series Tactical Droid
16 IG-86 Assassin Droid
15 Battle Droid Sergeant
12 Gha Nachkt
10 San Hill
8 Battle Droid Officer
14 R7 Astromech Droid x2

(500pts. 16 activations)

Nobody could handle firepower of this magnitude.

Played in Muunilinst.

Bastila was a nuisance for a second, until a pawned lancer turned her off. 3 turns in a row. Vipers were MVPs.

Your 500 is like my 500 from GenCon last year, tweaked up (like your two X-1's instead of 1). It has a pile of firepower and the lancer can deal with Bastila if you face her. Glad it won. Oh yeah, I used Proxy to copy Maul's stats and Whorm for twins. Haha, guess they aren't really all that similar after all. Like what you did with it.
