Sunday, July 22nd

4th Annual Chicago League 1670 GenCon prep mini Jedi Challenge/Sith Trials/Championship tournament!!!

Location: Chicagoland Games (aka The Dice Dojo) 5550 N Broadway, Chicago

11:30 registration
Noon start

Cost: Free

This will be a 4 round tournament where we switch formats every round.

This is preparation for GenCon's Jedi Challenge, Sith Trials, and the Championship.

Round 1 - Dynamic Duo
Round 2 - 150pt V-set only (see specific rules in the GenCon thread)
Round 3 - 200 pt TILE WARS
Round 4 - 200 pt Constructed (aka world championship)

For fun afterward - Royal Rumble!!!

All rules for each round will be exactly what the rules are for the corresponding format at GenCon. (Exception - Royal Rumble will not be "team")

What to bring: Bring a squad and a map related to each format for each round. Each round will be as if it were a separate tournament at GenCon, so your squads will be completely different every round.

In other words:
Bring 1 exactly 100pt dynamic Duo (and a standard/restricted list map to play it on)
Bring a 150pt V-set only* (see specific rules) and a standard/restricted list map to play it on)
Bring a 200pt TILE WARS squad and a tile to play it on (I have tiles to borrow)
Bring a 200pt constructed championship squad (and a restricted list map to play it on)

and for Royal Rumble:

Bring three 100pt (or less) duos with no faction restrictions.

This event will end by 6pm, so even if you travel to get in, you'll be home in time for a good nights sleep! I really hope some of you guys from MI, IN, and WI can make it out too!

This is what I found on v-set only.

"For this 150 point tournament, your squad may only include pieces from Destiny of the Force, Renegades and Rogues, the Battle of Theed Palace, Vengeance, and Cantina Brawl. Ugnaught Demolitionists will be also legal, and each squad may contain one previously released miniature from any faction besides Fringe (Unique or non-Unique, which have no limit to the amount, i.e., as many Stormtroopers as you wish)."

One thing that was decided after I submitted that was that Scum and Villiany/Jedi vs. Sith will also be legal. The full stats will be revealed at least two weeks prior to GenCon so that they can be worked into your squads if you so wish.

Maybe it's just me but I think it's a little confusing. With what I read, it sounds like V-sets, 1 previously released figure from any faction, and as many fringe pieces as you want. That doesn't really make sense to me. The other way of reading it makes it sound like no fringe except uggies are legal, and if that's the case it puts some factions in a bind. So maybe I'm just tired and can't read today but it sounds weird to me.

The GenCon Vset tourney rules are Vset 1-4 are legal as well as Uggies and R7. You are also allowed to have one figure of a faction that is not fringe and legal in your squad. If the chosen one is non-unique then you can have as many as you need.

Fringe V-set pieces are still legal, just not Fringe WOTC pieces other than the ugo.

Hrmmm, that does hurt mice dependant factions.

Here is the listing on the GenCon page. It says R7 will be legal.

https://registration.gencon.com/events/30188

This is the final leg of this year's Jedi Challenge Event. This event will be the first ever constructed VSet-Only Tournament. For this 150 point tournament, your squad may only include pieces from Destiny of the Force, Renegades and Rogues, the Battle of Theed Palace, Vengeance, Cantina Brawl, Scum and Villainy, and Jedi vs. Sith. Ugnaught Demolitionists and R-7 Astromech Droids will be also legal, and each squad may contain one previously released miniature from any faction besides Fringe (Unique or non-Unique, which have no limit to the amount, i.e., as many Stormtroopers as you wish). The map list will be Standard. We will play 4 rounds of Swiss, with prizes for anyone with zero or one loss. The results from this tournament will be added to those of the other two Jedi Challenge events to discover this year's winner.

But no mice, which does hurt a lot of factions.

I could be creative sure, but given that a lot of play to win attitudes would just bring the squads that already dont rely on mice..what does that give you? Four factions?

You can bring in a Squib Trader, right? It might work for some squads, like Revan Swap.

That and I'm an idiot...all factions would be dependant on mice in this, save 1.

Well I hope all this discussion means you all are planning on attending! It should be a lot of fun.

One thing I love about this event every year is that you're not stuck playing the same squad all day. You have 4 totally different formats to test out.

You do know that this is free right? Or are you just talking about gas money? I understand completely but just wanted to make sure that the tourney was all free

Sounds like lots of fun!

Although I won't be attending Gencon I'm going to try and make it down for this. Chance of me being able to make it is low but I'm going to give it a shot.

I'd really love for you to make it. Though it mirrors several GenCon formats, it's a fun day of gaming all on its own!
