Capt. Panaka of Theed with Royal Handmaidens, Queen Amidala of Naboo, and Admiral Yularen. Probably backed up by Boba Fett Bounty Hunter and maybe some Fringe melee beats lol.

And Death shots. Yes, death shots.

Don't beat yourself up Jason, you weren't all wrong, you hit right on the head with the strafe ruling. (which by the way I also have in my squad)

Alright - well I'm glad to hear everyone was so excited about our Friday night gaming. We had a blast. First TILE WARS, then Royal Rumble.

Well I won't keep you in suspense anymore.

You all did a good job guessing, but Daniel was the closest to my TILE WARS build, Dennis was near it as well.

Here it is:

--TILE WARS - Operation "Get Behind the Darkies" 2012--
23 Mon Mothma
21 Admiral Yularen
20 Captain Panaka of Theed
20 Commander Gree
18 Captain Typho
18 Jar Jar Binks
17 Gungan Shieldbearer
16 Queen Amidala
8 Mas Amedda
39 Naboo Soldier x13

(200pts. 22 activations)

It made a solid run, but got steamrolled by Ben Johnson in the finals with his HK assassin, Advanced Destroyer, whorm, Sora Bulq and Durge JH squad.

2nd place ain't bad.

Next Jake and I split up and ran 2 Royal Rumbles. We each dominated.

Now I have like 9 hours to figure out what I'm running for the actual regional.

Well, I'm all packed up, Tim and Jake are awake (not moving, but awake), and gaming begins in a little over an hour. I pray all those traveling here this morning are safe, and that we all have a great time today. It's going to be one crazy ride to the Final Four, but a journey I am more than happy to jump on :)

Still don't know what I'm playing today.

Well, we're into the Final Four here in Missouri. I take much fault for our attendance of only 8, because so many local people had many things going on today that I didn't know months ago when I set the date, so that is on me. However, with Tim and Jake K coming down from Chicago, I can't say I have regrets, because seeing those two awesome guys was worth it.

So, anyway, here's a picture showing the results going into the playoffs.

Image

Yeah, I got last. Dead last. LOL I had horrible rolls in one game, and thanks to Lightsaber Combat Expert, I honestly dealt more damage to my own characters than he did to me until the final round. In the second game, I made a stupid mistake to start off combat, and then never recovered. And then I just lost all desire to care in the last game and played super aggresive to just try to kill stuff. Now, you may think, what was Ray running? My initial squad was going to be a new version of Solo Charge using Jaden Korr, but after some testing, I just wasn't thrilled with it. I wish I had run it now instead of this:
65 Master Kavar
36 Atton "Jaq" Rand
33 Bastila Shan, Jedi Master
29 Carth Onasi, Old Republic Soldier
18 Klatooinian Captain
4 Peace Brigade Thug
6 Mouse Droid x2
3 Rodian Brute
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2

Yes, I took a tweaked version of Graham's Winning squad from last week, and I butchered the hell out of it and proved it can easily lose, lol.

The playoffs are going right now, results later. And now, my entire SWM focus is on one thing...GENCON 2012!!!

It's on, then.

Congrats to Tim, and thanks for making the meta even more opaque and confusing.

Back from the regional--'twas a lovely time. Congrats to Tim on winning his umpteenth regional. With the way the meta of this particular very small regional played out, Nom Bombs was a very nice counter to what everyone else was trying to do, and Tim played it well.

I am excited that I won Tile Wars on Friday night. Indeed, today Tim declared that it was a "Tile Wars Regional", so I guess I'm the first ever Tile Wars Regional champ--sweet. In the finals, Tim's mega-death shot squad was very well-conceived, but HK shut down enough of his CE's long enough for me to get my big shooters in spots to do a lot of damage, and by the time HK was dead Tim only had a shell of his squad left, and certainly not enough to take down my other dudes For posterity's sake, here's the MO Tile Wars winning squad:

51 Durge, JH
39 HK-47 Assassin Droid
37 Series II Destroyer Droid
33 Sora Bulq
20 General Whorm Loathsome
15 Ponda Baba, Galactic Criminal
5 Salacious Crumb

I do recommend the Friday night fun event throwdown to everyone else out there--it makes the regional weekend more like a mini-Gencon.

As for the main event, I decided to run a Crazy Houjix variant as a tribute to Reuben's cat, who kept Reuben from attending the tournament. I figured I would have a chance to do well if I avoided cloaked or Bastila. Played against cloaked (Robert's mando squad) in the first round, and Bastila (Bill G.) in the third round, so there you go. I actually made it kinda close against Robert by getting Flobi and Rex back into his commander array, but Rex didn't hit enough shots, and Flobi missed two Soresu re-rolls against crits, and Robert did a nice job maximizing his advantages. Bill G. crushed me in a rematch of last year's MO title game, in spite of the fact that Figrin Dan made 6 evade saves in a row for me. I really needed to win map roll in that game. I did pick up a win against Jake's Rakghoul squad.

So, I didn't three-peat as Missouri champ, but I did have a ton of fun. Congrats to Tim for winning the regional, congrats to Bill for making his second straight trip to the MO regional finals, and congrats to Jake for edging me in the Loser's Bracket Royal Rumble.

Oh, and thanks to Ray for putting the whole thing together. Once again, it was a well-run, fun event.

2012 Missouri Regional Champion Squad:

--Jake K's 2011 squad--
54 Cad Bane
34 Nom Anor
27 Lobot
19 Yomin Carr
15 Yammosk War Coordinator
12 Advance Scout x2
36 Yuuzhan Vong Worker x9
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

(200pts. 17 activations)

*Very important:
The name of this squad is "Jake K's 2011 squad"

At the last minute Jake asked if I wanted to play his squad from last year. He brought it with him but decided to play Fallen Angel instead. I wrestled with it a bit, but decided to go for it with only a minor change. I dropped 3 workers for the 2 advance scouts. That way I had 2 super stealthies that could actually earn gambit and throw thud bugs.

Jake got 2nd last year at both Wisconsin and Kokomo IN regionals last year. He lost both finals matches to me. In bittersweet irony, I finally get it to win a regional.

I never played the squad before today. I certainly have played AGAINST it enough. Beating it (barely) 5 times at regionals last year made me understand the other end of the squad. Playing it is another matter.

Lobot was MVP by far. My biggest fear was running into another Lobot, since there is lots of tech to help counter my team. (I know because its the only way I beat Jake last year (Luckily only Jake brought Lobot to this regional, and I never faced him.)

I beat OR twice, Sith x 2 and Mandos.

VS Attin Jaq Rand in 4 matches. Round 2 he made 6 (yes, SIX) avoid defeat saves in a row. Thats not even counting the spit posion saves that he made. I nearly lost that ridiculousness.

But I pulled it off for regional title number 6.

I'll post specific match reports later.

Ben no rodian dip?
Sweet Tim wins again
Good job Tim

I wan you play the next regional without mt/MTb and tempo.
I'll play tempo and no swap.
Hehehe

I think we need to say min of 4 rounds of Swiss and min of 12 players counts as a true regional for now on. Nothing against Tim's win but really 8 players.

Fallen Angel by Poison (Rakgouls, duh)
Squad designed by Jake K.
This is the theme song of the squad (could possibly be the only squad that has a theme song)
Enjoy!

She stepped off the bus
out into the city streets
Just a small town girl
with her whole life
packed in a suitcase by her feet

But somehow the lights didn't
shine as bright as they did
on her mama's TV screen

And the work seemed harder
And the days seemed longer
than she ever thought they'd be

But you know you got
to stick to your guns
when it all comes down
'Cause sometimes you can't choose
It's like heads they win
tails you're gonna lose

(chorus)
Win big, Mama's fallen angel
Lose big, livin' out her lies
Wants it all, Mama's fallen angel
Lose it all, rollin'
the dice of her life

Now she found herself in the
fast lane livin' day to day
Turned her back on her
best friends, yeah
And let her family slip away

Just like a lost soul
caught up in the Hollywood scene
all the parties and the limousines

Such a good actress
hiding all her pain
Trading her memories
for fortune and fame

Just a step away from
the edge of a fall
Caught between heaven and hell
Where's the girl I knew a year ago?

(chorus)

Too much too soon?
Or just a little too late?
Cause when her ship came in
she wasn't there and
It just wouldn't wait

"Stepped off the bus, out into the city streets."- I'm on a bus now headed back home from that disaster.

"Just a small town girl, with her whole life packed in a suitcase by her feet."- Rakgouls by her feet.

"But somehow the lights didn't shine as bright as they did on her mamas tv screen."- it didn't work like it did in playtests with this squad.

"The work seemed harder and the days seemed longer than she ever thought they'd be."- when you can't turn rakgouls, it makes for harder, longer matches.

"But you know, you gotta stick to your guns when it all comes down, cause sometimes you can't choose, it's like heads they win, tails, you gonna lose."- wait, I have no guns, and I lost.

"Win big, Mama's fallen angel. Lose big, liven out her lies. Wants it all, Mama's fallen angel. Lose it all, rollin the dice of her life."- win, lose, wants it all, rollin dice; Need I say more.

"Now she found herself living in the fast lane day to day."- Reven moving up 20 and swapping her in is a fast lane.

"Turned her back on her best friends and let her family slip away."- watching her rakgouls die, nooooo!!

"Just like a lost soul, caught up in the Hollywood scene, all the parties and limousine."- @$"?#% this meta.

"Such a good actress, hiding all her pain. Traiding her memories for fortune and fame."- more like trading your scrubs for more rakgouls. Yeaaah! Oh wait it didn't work and I lost. I guess she wasn't such a good actress.

"Just a step away from the edge of a fall. Caught between Heaven and Hell."- Celeste was constantly torn between Jedi and sith.

"Where's the girl I knew a year ago?"- Celeste's mini came out a year ago.

"To much to soon, or just a little to late. Cause when her ship came in, she wasn't there, and it wasn't gonna wait."- I ran in to soon or got started to late and the timer wasn't waiting for me. That's the way the tourny went for me.

Celeste
Reven
Lobot
Raks x2
Uggie x2
Mice x3
Sith Wrangler
