I don't even know that to say! I want to thank Tim for really making Tile Wars what it is today. I am only on this list because I had the opporunity to play with a squad that he came up with. Tile Wars has always been my favorite format. I enjoy the quick games. I have not been playing much lately but have kept up with all of the virtual sets and have passed out sets to people who are interested. I am planning on playing a little this year at GenCon and will definitely have to play in the Tile Wars tournament too.

It is very exciting to be associated with the other people listed.

Thanks

Jay

Very cool! Thanks for putting this together, Tim!

I really think you should include yourself in there, though... :)

Woo I'm in the running! I have to say, though, although I love TILE WARS and have a lot of fun with it (and was just a failed activation save away from winning the tournament at GenCon last year!), I don't really feel that I've done quite enough to be in the Hall of Fame for it. I greatly appreciate the thought, though. :)

I do think that Chris made a great point, that YOU should absolutely be a part of this! You might not be the "true creator" of the format, but you're certainly the one that popularized it and keeps it alive. I think that if just one more member will be inducted, it needs to be you. Consider this my formal nomination.

Thirded. :)

In my mind, Tile Wars = TimmerB123

Like Echo, I really enjoy the format, but I don't understand why I'm being placed on this list, though I'm obviously grateful. I've helped to do some playtesting of maps and tiles and rules, but beyond that, I've really not done much at all.

Fourthed.

Also, I'm flattered to be mentioned on your list of potentials, though I'm not really sure why I merit inclusion. Maybe because I'm the jerk who always brings disruptive to Tile Wars. I do love the format.

I should've done far more of that...most of the games I lost were due to ramped-up CEs that my squad couldn't handle.

Oh, and I love the format too. :)

You answered your own question. :)

All you guys on this list are there more than anything because of your public enthusiasm for the format. There should be others on this list - that was just off top of my head.

In fact - I am officially putting Swinefeld on the list too. He always has great comments, suggestions and ideas for the format too.

Are you sure you have the right guy? :?

Public enthusiasm for the format is probably the only thing I have contributed, and I'm publicly enthusiastic about SWM in general, so nothing special there. :)

It is one of the fun meta dimensions of the game--should I build a squad that loops a bunch of CE's, or build to disrupt the inevitable giant loops of CE's that I will see. It's tricky to do both.

I guess it shows that I really like Tile Wars when my initial reaction to the latest HK-47 was "Sweet--now I never have to put Nym in another Tile Wars squad."

Yeah - Deri won 2009 with double disruptive. Nym was SOOO good in TILE WARS in the beginning - not only disruptive, but Grenades 40 and Recon are both huge in Tile Wars. Double 30dmg attacks wasn't bad either! But after a year or 2 he wasn't nearly as good. HK - the fringe disruptive piece of choice! TILE WARS was the first thing I thought of with him as well.

I think this was his 2009 squad when both he and Deri went undefeated and Deri edged him out by SoS.

I'm looking for his 2008 squad when it was a 100 pt tournament

Hey, something just occurred to me as I was thinking of the low-activation disruptive squads (Kyle, Nym, Mara). You know what could be fun? Allowing the use of Epic characters in Tile Wars. It would be an optional add-on to regular TW...call it Epic Tiles. Nobody would be forced to bring an epic, but they could if they wanted to.

The activations would obviously be really low for a lot of the squads, but I'm not sure it would matter too much, since some regular low-activation squads have worked in this format already.

I'd like to play the epic versions of Darth Bane or Mara Jade or TPM or Mace Windu or Darth Maul in this format. There are some cool new Epic pieces on the way that would be lots of fun in TW too.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the tangent...now back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

Good discussion - let's continue it in the regular TILE WARS thread.

So - since we are doing 2 inductees a year - I am updating the list to include those who already should be in.

Congrats to:

2009 -Trevor Payton (aka thereisnotry) - Major supporter of TILE WARS, playtester
2010 - Brad Phillips (aka The_Celestial_Warrior) - Major supporter of TILE WARS, creative squad builder, playtester
2011 - Jake Koleczek (aka sthlrd2) - Major supporter of TILE WARS, playtester
