So, who would be interested in a regional this year on Vassal? It would be a great way for our International friends to compete with us here in the USA.

This is why I am running the Gamers Con in July. We can make the saturday event a 200 pt event and its free.
I would really like to keep it part of that weekend if we could.

or We could keep the more fun events and run a National online tournament in early fall before the europe tournament.

If we want a paid event I am not for that after what happened with Vassal 2009 online.

I would be very interested, any chance to play new competition would be excellent but I would need a lot of help getting Vassel set up and such.

Audri: Vassal is actually pretty easy to set up; I'll help you with it if you'd like (PM me and we'll set something up).

I'd be open to any and all vassal tournaments; if you organize it, they will come. 200pts sounds like a good way to go since it's a Regional. But the idea of other formats and other times sounds good too.

And I agree with Jonny: having a paid tournament over vassal can be difficult to coordinate. As I recall, he had trouble with people not paypal-ing the money to him before the tourney started (even though he specifically stated that it was necessary to do so)...and then after the tournament was over, they never paid. If that's the way it's going to work, then I don't think it's good to have a paid vassal tourney; but if we can make it work better than that, then maybe it would be worth doing. The other Regionals are $15.

I'd possibly be interested in that. I'm assuming if it is free, then the prize is just the feeling of greatness being able to beat the American professional players... well worth it.

See if we can find a Judge for the regional since I might not be the best one for that.

After "inspiring" the Regional, I'm not actually going to be a starter. There are some Kiwis who'll probably be keen though - it's worth hitting up the Bloomilk posters doug*platypus and Darth O, and Sashlon from Australia. Also Sharron, who imo is Save11's most accomplished player, is about to move to another city where there are no players, so he might develop an interest in Vassal.

The trouble I have with Vassal is that there are about 10 keen players within a 10-15 minute driving radius from my house, and I get as many play opportunities as I can handle (I also have a 6 month old daughter) without having to go online. It'd be great if some of our players got the chance to play International players regularly though.

I thought about this the other day as well, I'm all for it. I'd play.

I'd be interested in joining in this Regional. It sounds fun and I've never had the chance to compete on the national scale with my squads, so I'd like to give it a try.
