When I got home today, UPS left me a present! Six boxes filled with V set 3 cards. I hope you have contacted Urbanjedi (or have contacted your pointman who then contacted urbanjedi). They will be packaged up on Friday 28 Jan (depending on weather). Shipping will take place right after that.

If you still want a set (don't fear), after donating you will still get one. It just will not go out in the first wave.

I also have R&R/BoT and Epics if anyone needs them. Contact Urbanjedi (keeper of the requests).

Engineer (shipping King)

I will be donating this weekend.

Guess that means I have to kick the FAQ into gear.

Too be fair, it goes a lot quicker when I actually have the cards set out in front of me. Much easier to see potential questions.

I have a question about SpecForce "Vanguard" 28/60.

The name printed on the card is "SpecForce Vanguard" [sic] and the flavor text says "Surprise is no replacement for firepower".

I just looked up the quote on page 76 (upper left) of "Rules of Engagement: The Rebel SpecForce Handbook" by West End Games.

The Quote, "Surprise is no replacement for firepower", is the mantra of the the "SpecForce Heavy Weapon Specialists", also known as "SpecForce Gunners" for short, not the "SpecForce Vanguards". In all honesty, I cant find the word "Vanguard" in the entire book.

My question is as follows:

Is the name on card 28/60 a typo and should read, "SpecForce Gunner" or is the flavor text a typo??? Thank you in advance for your help.

Neither.

Check the SpecForce Infiltrator.

The Rebel Vanguard Division was also a part of the SpecForce 6th Regiment, aka the Heavy Weapons Specialists. The WEG Rebel SpecForce Handbook doesn't call them Vanguards, but all the Vanguards were, in fact, from the 6th Regiment, so they shared that same mantra.

Here's a quote from Wookieepedia: "When assigned to a taskforce, HWS personnel were commonly called either "gunners" if they specialized in heavy blaster weaponry or vehicle-mounted weapons, or "vanguards" if they specialized in shoulder-fired missile launchers in an anti-mechanized unit role."

The new ones specifically represent the Vanguards; in the future we could potential make a SpecForce Gunner, who would also represent a 6th Regiment SpecForce soldier, but would have more of a gunner flavor.

Further:

Gunner, in the Star Wars Universe, refers to those who operate the heavy weapons of vehicles and starship. It is also a rank, it has nothing to do with Ground Forces.

Thank you everyone for such a quick responses.

I checked "SpecForce Infiltrators" on page 75 of "Rules of Engagement: The Rebel SpecForce Handbook" and it makes no mention of "Vanguards". Did you mean the card 27/60 in the booster or the Handbook? I'm sorry, I don't understand what I'm looking for.

I see. Sadly, I read both Wookiepedia articles before posting this question to the forum. Would it be safe to assume this card was based on the Wookiepedia article and not an actual published STAR WARS product?

Again, thank you for answering. :D

Actually, there are a few references to the Vanguards being a division of SpecForce; it just so happens that the WEG book isn't one of them (although that's where SpecForce originated as a concept). Keep in mind that Star Wars lore is an amalgamation of MANY different sources. There is even text published by WotC about the original Rebel Vanguard mini from The Force Unleashed that discusses that the Vanguards are a member of SpecForce, and WotC text is on the exact same level of canon as the WEG text.

Wookieepedia is quite often used for research for our design process, more than anything because it's convenient. That doesn't mean we don't do research beyond that; for example, I made the first draft of the Nimbus Commando in Vengeance, and before I did so I got Star Wars: Republic issues 55-58 and read them, as that was the direct source material for them. Obviously this can't be done for all 144 pieces per year that we design, because those of us doing it are just volunteers that have many other commitments. Because of that lack of time, we often default to Wookieepedia for certain things. This specifically was a case of the information originally being found on Wookieepedia, but further investigation proves it to be canon.

I have some more questions:

Card 33/60, Jedi-Sith Clones, What source was this card based on?

Card 11/12 Tonnika Sisters, Unique is printed on the card, can I field two models or one?

Card 11/12 Tonnika Sisters, if I can only field one model, shouldn't it be a large base to simulate both sisters?

For Example: http://www.trollandtoad.com/products/fullshot.php?fullshot=112047.jpg

#33/60 The Jaden Korr novel...believe the name was "Crosscurrent"

11/12 One model....they're really thin. Notice the use of +2, Twin and etc

Example: R2-D2 and C-3PO from AE

TCW is correct, they are from the novel Crosscurrent. Jaden Korr discovers a "Jedi-Sith cloning project"; these are the products of that project.

You can only field one of them; the single model is meant to represent them both.

A large base would be far to large for just two people. In the same way that two Mouse Droids fit on one small base, the two sisters would fit on one medium base. Unfortunately there does not exist a Star Wars Minis piece that has two women on one medium base. I'm sure you'll notice that not all RMs do a 100% exact job of emulating the mini that they represent; that will always be the case, and is just part of the deal of making cards for a discontinued game with no extra minis.

Feel free to make a custom that includes both sisters on one base.

"Originated" being the pivotal word. ;)

That was the answer I was looking for Echo, thank you. ;)

TCW, Echo, thank you... ;)

True but the Indy Heroclix "Siamese" does. I just needed to be sure. Its like the R2-D2 C-3P0 piece. I'm good.

Again thank you guys, I am just trying to get my ducks in a row and you just placed 3 of them for me. Good deal... :D

I am sorry for asking another reference question. I think this is the last for this booster/scenario pack.

Momaw Nadon 9/12, War Throat, 10 damage to each character within 6 squares.

Yes I read the Wookiepedia articles on said topics. Please tell me when and where this Ithorian used this power in the Cantina, in Mos Eisley, on Tatooine, and/or in any STAR WARS source???

If I remember correctly from the SW RPG (Saga Edition) all Ithorians have that ability.

This is correct. All Ithorians can use their throats to expel air and do damage with it. It's generally called the War Throat. Any given Ithorian would be eligible to be given this ability, so we decided to give it to Momaw Nadon.
