--Storm N' Strafe--
37 Grand Admiral Thrawn
28 General Weir
27 Lobot
22 Imperial Governor Tarkin
21 Scout Trooper on Speeder Bike
20 Admiral Piett
17 Storm Commando
11 Admiral Ozzel
8 Mas Amedda
3 Mouse Droid
6 Rodian Brute x2

(200pts. 12 activations)

Cunning for 120 from the Storm Commando + Opportunist 120 from Weir, and the speeder can do 60 to everything it strafes (opportunist and twin) with a 60 damage extra kicker to one enemy.

3 figs can do 120 damage, and then you have 3 double attacking commanders plus a fourth single attacker to clear up fodder, combine fire or put that last bit of damage on a nasty.

I usually brought in a swoop with Lobot to swap my speeder around. Then either an R7 or 2 brutes and a gran. Very hard to beat on the Chancelor's starship you I out activated. I think I could take down a Bastilla squad with it due to the Ysalimiri. Toasts mostly melee squads. Classic glass cannon - but at least you have three glass cannons, and one is a strafing glass cannon! And your tech keeps the cannons alive longer

It would struggle against the lancer, accurate cannons , and anything that out-activates it. Rebels is it's worst match-up.

1.5 tier, but lots of fun. You can lose the speeder after you get one good strafe, and still have plenty to mop up with.

What do Weir and Storm Commandos have to do to be considered Tier 1? They've won WAMPA Stompa, they won this - I guess people are trying out different new pieces at these events, and they're not as hardcore as Regionals - but it's got to count for something, right?

Piett is winning now? Wow

Nice use of the oft overlooked scout speeder.

They ARE tier 1. I remember play testing him and commenting that he was a very powerful piece. The designers replied that they intended him to be somewhere along the lines of Captain Rex...mission accomplished.

Thanks.

The thought of a twin attacking strafer with opportunist and access to swap was certainly the basis for this squad.

Can't be reposted!

Having 2 other guys who can do 120 is just icing.

And - thehutts - I don't know the answer. You nailed it that people are trying out new things and it has yet to face the top meta.

I laid out what this squad loses to, and frankly without the speeder, you have more issues in my opinion.

Good job Tim but I am hesitant to say you won yet. We didn't play the top 4 showdown and I think I could have beat you due to the fact that I outactivate and can take out any one of your cannons in one strike. Not saying you wouldn't have won but just saying I'm hesitant to name you the winner yet.

+1, and +2, cause I'm pretty sure Scott felt the same way :D

I was willing to, but everyone wanted to be done.

Jake and I will do the semi final match for fun sometime soon.

Regardless, I was the only undefeated at the end of the day. ;)

Anyway- I'm amazed we survived being so exhausted.

I wanted to play this match in the tourney pretty badly. Sadly it never came to be. I am curious how Ysalmari with its six square range would have handled Bastilla.

Well I haven't played it - but here's the theory: I huddle around Thrawn, but still out of LOS, so that I can still out-activate. Then I can position my shooters around the corner (but still in the ysalimiri bubble) and fire off 120 damage from Weir. Then do another 120 damage at the start with my commando. If that doesn't kill off your main stuff, then I keep advancing until I can make a speeder run, most likely killing a lot and turning off battle meditation. You basically have to advance like a pod, and use double door control to dictate the action in between the two squads.

Your door control would be key, and I don't know how you could keep that safe.

But that is all theory - it would be a fun game to play. We should try it sometime. Ever come up to Chicago?

I was rocking a lobot and r7 in the main squad. So not a lot of door control since knowing myself I would have went for the mouse droids and Human bodyguard from Lobot in the matchup. I guess on my end it would have been a matter of seeing if Mira could knock out Thrawn without getting herself killed.

I don't make it to Chicago often but should be their for Regionals.
