Well, with the new set completely spoiled, I thought I'd try and make a very abusive squad using Battle of Theed minis. Here goes:

New Naboo Nastiness:

Queen Amidala
Captain Panaka of Theed
Captain Typho
Mon Mothma
Admiral Yularen
Commander Gree
Jolee Bindo
Mas Ameda
Naboo Soldier x16
Uggie Demo

200pt, 25 activations

Now I'm not sure if this is the most abusive squad you can get, and I welcome suggestions on how to make this squad even better, but the little bodyguards with twin death shots for +13 attack at 30 dmg a hit will be nasty. Sniper is a great ability, and these Naboo Soldiers can even BG you other shooters like *gasp* Yularen (who can come out of hiding and use his recon) and Panaka. Even Bindo can be annoying as he can attack at a decent +13 attack and have a tendancy of not dieing. Commander Gree can be moved up into the actio thanks to the tons of bodyguards running around also. So I figure that after all the Naboo soldiers have bit the dust, I do think Panaka, Gree and even Yularen can clean up the rest. Oh, and if you roll a 20 for init, celebrate by bringing in 5 Naboo Soldiers and a Naboo Trooper. Have a nice day! :D

Honestly, I think Plo Koon, JM is a better choice than both Gree and Bindo. You lose your attack, but, you gain 4 attacks when you lose one Trooper. At +9, with Opportunist, I think some will hit.

Plo Koon only works if they have Trooper in the name, I think?

Yea, Plo works only on trooper followers. Maybe use the new Naboo Trooper instead of Naboo Soldier (obviously you can't have as many in the squad but having both Deceptive and then Opportunist from Yularen makes the Death Shot very hefty.

Yeah, silly me. I assumed he was talking about the new Naboo Troopers, not the old Soldiers. Title confused me.

So things this squad might have trouble against:
Stealth/SS
Door Control
The off chance of you facing someone with Force Leap, lol.

That's all I can think of, lol. Very fun looking. *golf clap*

Drop Captain Typho for 18
I would go for a mix of both the new and the old guys.
adding in a few more uggies might be a good idea.
The squad can be really annoying if you play it right.

Don't forget about a Bastila squad. If she cancels your CEs, those Soldiers/Troopers are sitting ducks.

thats fine you will out act them for the most part so it will only be one turn. Sorry not all of the OR decks have 20 acts most of them dont.
That is why I would try and get the act count up to around 30. ANother thing is that Yul does have recon and its a trap so if you can keep him save he might come in handy. Overall it looks pretty good just needs a little work.

And in the few turns Bastilla's ABM is going, you will be able to clear all your guys from Thon? Trust me, an 8 range Repulse 4 is a big worry to this squad, especially if their atk boosts are turned off for 2-3 turns.

thats fine its only 10 squares that he can do it from all I have to do is count. sorry its just like R2 kota just that its one turn now and less squares. Thats is why the squad needs override and a few other things. That is why the squad needs work. Captain Typho for a r7 and two senators might be a good idea?

Ok, based on suggestions made by people, here is a updated version:

New Naboo Nastiness 2.0:

Queen Amidala
Captain Panaka of Theed
R7 Droid
Rodian Diplomat
Mon Mothma
Admiral Yularen
Commander Gree
Jolee Bindo
Mas Ameda
Naboo Soldier x16
Uggie Demo x3

200pts, 28 activations

I took out Typho, and added in 2 uggies, a Rodian Diplomat to take care of SS, and an R7 to overide doors and maybe limit Master Thon and Bastilla. I'm not so sure an R7 is the absolute best defense vs. Thon, but i do know what is. Unfortunately I don't really know what is best to take out in order to fit Zuckuss,Bounty Hunter into the squad. If I had Zuckuss, I could get rid of the Rodian Diplomat since I'd have boardwide SS disruption for 2 turns at least. Zuckuss is the only way, imo, to contain Thon and keep him away from my Soldiers. Zuckuss would work well since Recon from Yularen will give you a moderate chance to win init and get Snare Gun to stick Thon in his place. Thon is a scary beast and he does pose a huge threat to my squad, and so does Bastilla in a way. At least with Bastilla, she eventually will run out of force, and then you can start to move and destroy. It is a slow tactic and probably not best suited for tourney play. Bastilla is a major threat to every squad that is dependant on CE's (except for the Vong). At least for tourney play, this squad is completely unconcerned with Lancer and Yobuck squads. :D

Hopefully Overide will help protect against Thon, but it all depends on the map, and if the oppenent is carrying a few overide peices of its own that could be a problem potentially. The good thing is you will be able to out activate most squads. A person that can potentially be dropped is Jolee Bindo, but I hate to lose the +2 extra attack he gives to my Soldiers. If I want Zuckuss added, I could drop Bindo, a Rodian Diplomat and the R7. Not sure if that is the best way to go, but its a possibility. Any suggestions for further improvements/ways to deal with the Thon and Bastilla threat would be greatly appreciated.

Specifically countering Thon will be difficult. Zuckuss is a good idea, but you would have to lose quite a bit to fit him in there. He isn't an auto win, by no means. He can gut your squad pretty well with little to no recourse, thanks to Bastilla, but that will happen no matter what if you face OR.

Broadly, I think there are two kind of death strike CE-driven squads:
i) Reactive - where the player can't do any damage without the other player killing their pieces
ii) Proactive - where the player can do damage without the other player killing their pieces - so they can trigger the death-shots themselves. This can be done through the Muun Tactics Broker, Darth Sidious, or Shimmra (maybe others too?).

Bastila squads can deal with the reactive squads easily - they just don't kill anything while she's not meditating. While proactive squads can still cause her problems, since Old Republic squads are generally going to have less activations than squads filled with death striking scrubs.

Does the MTB work with Republic death shot squads? I haven't seen it used, but it seems like the best option to avoid a very tough matchup against Old Republic.

The MTB could work I guess.

But remember, when going against Bastilla, if a lot of your offensive is based on CE's, like this one, then you are up a creek for a few turns. The issue in this squad vs Bastilla/Thon, is that yes, you outactivate them. But it will be really difficult to deal damage for those turns Bastilla is active, and with so many figs, it is hard to seperate enough to avoid Thon's Repulse 4. Seriously, he covers an area close to Kota's Repulse 5.

When I think it through you're right - the MTB is still only going to work when Bastilla is switched off, so it doesn't help reliably.

I made some changes based on thinking of how to counter the Thon/Bastilla threat and I come out with a more effective squad:

New Naboo Nastiness 3.0:

Queen Amidala
Captain Panaka of Theed
Mon Mothma
Admiral Yularen
Commander Gree
Mas Ameda
Naboo Soldier x15
Uggie Demo
Zuckuss,BH
Wicket

200pt, 24 activations

I sacrificed giving bodyguard, but gained a Accurate shooter in Zuckuss, who effectively can nullify Thon and SS squads, and Wicket, who can be another opportunist shooter and give my soldiers a attack boost of +4 against stuff within 6 squares of him. Wicket kinda gives my stuff a much better chance of hitting when Bastilla is disrupting my CE's, making my soldiers attack at +7 ranged against the melee heavy OR when ABM is in effect. I had to get rid of a naboo soldier to make room for wicket and Zuckuss, but I think the benfits far out way the loss of one more death shot naboo soldier. Any more suggestions? This is probably the most ideal squad that I can think of to counter all the threats. A R4 droid could be substituted for Wicket so that you can have targeting and hit people from range.
