My squad:

--Double Lancer Evolution--
36 Darth Sidious
60 IG Lancer Droid x2
27 Lobot
20 General Whorm Loathsom
16 IG-86 Assassin Droid
12 Gha Nachkt
10 San Hill
8 Battle Droid Officer
7 R7 Astromech Droid
4 Mouse Droid x2

(200pts. 12 activations)

My Map: Rhen Var Citadel

This squad was a lot of fun to play with. I like having a disposable lancer. Obviously Jason K has shown over the last 2 years that this system is strong. I like having San and Whorm over Grievous so that your first strike isn't automatically suicide. You can actually out-activate, strike, and then decimate some more after init with the MTB. You obviously don't hit as hard all the way across the board, but you can soften up that target and take out the scrubs, and then finish off the big bad guys with lancer # 2 and the IG-86. I still have yet to zap someone with Sidious this year, but that option is there too!

Can you talk some about your reinforcements options? I know you don't bring the same thing every time.

vs Nom Bombs - 2 Treadwells and a Mouse droid

I didn't do this but also could have done a Rakghoul and 2 mice vs Nom Bombs.

vs seps with San or Nute I would have done an IG-86 with 2 mice, but I didn't face it.

I never ended up doing 10 mice, but that option is always there.

Most often I did an MTB + 6 mice

Do you just do 10 mice vs solo charge?

Never played Solo Charge with it. I don't know what I would do. I might do Garindan, so that I could try and kill Han Solo in one phase. (Base with the IG and shoot, then pawn shoot + spotter)

But I guess to try and match activations I might have to use 10 mice

I understand that the Squad is strong, but even with 2 Lancers, is a +10 attack enough to cut it against some of the beefier characters, needing a 12 or 13 (or higher depending on CEs or SAs) cna make your day frusterating.

Do you find it best to just focus on other characters and try to use the 86 to shoot at em ?

the lancers mainly pick off the cheap fodder initially (ughnaughts, mice and door control) that it can kill putting the opponent at a activation, door control and points disavantage.

Once this squad has these advantages the big kills are easier to set up, either by the IGs or the lancer. Usually a mix of both.

It's true that what the lancer takes care of first is usually fodder and door control. Intentionally because of the advantage that it gives, but also it just happens to be what dies first. The lancer is so great because it hits everything. The fact that on a pawned strafe run it can take 40-80 off EVERYTHING is huge!

It's not just picking off the fodder and door control, is shaving good chunks of HP off everything, including big baddies.

An always +14 is almost always enough. Gotta roll a 4-6 to hit tough pieces like Han, Ganner and Mara. Gotta roll an 8-9 to hit the baddest of the bad like Kun and Revan.

Only crazy put-all-your-cost-into-defense squads like Atris+Luminara+Baris+GOWK make you have to roll above 10, but I'll take that squad on any day of the week. Once you lance R2 you control the game (unless you forget Atris has riposte, which is a mistake I will never make again!)
