Quick breakdown of my squad and pali report before I forget what I did.

Squad name: lobot, tactics bot.

54 cad bane
32 thrawn
31 Arica
27 lobot
16 admiral pellaeon
11 grand miff tarkin
8 mas ameda
X5 brutes
X2 uggies

So after hearing about how good pellion was for a few weeks from Graham and darth Jim I decided to do my own version of it. I Also decided that no matter what I'd do differant reinforcements with lobot each game. I even tossed in some wierd stuff into my fringe box including boba young merc, ephant mon, and bomo greenbark. Also pellion being able to cancel force spells seemed like a neat ability and omg is it good.

Round 1 vs John playing vong lobot(rodian raider, gran, 2 brutes)
This one is kind of vauge I stick with tarkin (bad choice) and get outacted and pounded by dash every round. I finally get off a few good barages and lose Arica in the process. Sheado shai also sticks 60 on cad. In all honesty I should have lost this one but nin yem missed the kill shot on cad as time expired and I earned my first ever 2 point win.

Round 2 vs Christian lobot (2 grans, 4 brutes)

He is running thrawn, veers, atris, and 3 nurses. I basicly just outacted and took shots as he tried to advance across the map (rancor pit). I go with tarkin again and he got Christian to advance a little too close and I was able to capitalize. Staying inside of pellaeons magic zone just jacks up atris squads hardcore. I just kept shooting till stuff died not a whole lot to say. Christian was a cool guy and was a good sport throughout.

We break for lunch and I had a burrito, it was good.

Round 3 Vs Roy lobot (x2 cloud car pilots, gran)

I go with jagged because I outact by a hilarious ammount and the cloud car pilots got his ce. (+13 for 30 with opp!). Round 1 I barraged all his uggies and got him down to
Just Luke, Kyle, and ganner. At this point Luke had no choice but to run into the ysalamiri field and to his death. Both cloud car pilots hit cad hit all his attacks Luke dies wondering how he forgot to know to block lasers. Pretty one sided, Roy took it all in stride and we spent the rest of our time talking renegades and rouges.

Round 4 vs Nathan lobot (4 caamasi nobles)

Nathan is pretty famous around here or his love affair with the ithorian commander and Han in stormtrooer armor, this time he ran Wookiees and erc's and lobbin Luke to get them around. I build my noble wall in 2 places on my map (spynet) and make his Wookiees have to hoof it to get to my fragile as hell shooters. I end up getting 3 Wookiees and some damage on Luke and Han for Arica. And at that point my nobles with opp hit 4/6 shots to
Kill his brutes that were advancing. My uggie also came up
Big with 2 crits, one on a aoo to keep cad from dying and one one Luke to get him into one shot territory from cad.

Once cad entered the battle he just came up big closing out the game and not dying like a punk like I thought he would. J fel also is a great shooter and with thrawn he is amazing at +16! I close out the game as 20 hp cad kills the remaining commanders.

Round 5 vs Andrew lobot (kel dor bh, gran, brute)

Andrew just plain setup awful on spynet. Round 1 I got a barrage at init on round 2 I did it again. His melee dudes weren't even close to
Being within hammertime range till they were laughably easy kills by Cad. Once again i go jagged and he and pellion were just laughing it up as Jedi started getting ganked cause pellaeons shoulder pet hates Jedi.

Not my best report, but I'm sleepy I'm sure my opponents will add in what all happend. I finished 5-0 with 14 points and the #1 seed.

Playoffs va Ricky lobot (kel dor, crumb)
I just straight up do every wrong thong I could possibly do and botch this game. I should have brought in ozzel, I should have advanced sooner, I should have done a lot of things. I just didn't do them.

On a side note. Screw poggle the lesser and the horse he rode in on lol. Ricky did all the right moves I'm just mad im 0-3 vs him(one of my few losing records to other players minimum 3 games).

I'm glad to see Greg got the monkey off his back of being in 3 finals and not closing out. He was like the Karl Malone of the Atlanta group.

Lobot is a piece that I think is misused alot. People that bring in the exact same thing every time clearly are missing the boat on what lobot can do. I wish I had the shot at doing some of the more creative things with it but the matchups just weren't there for it. Lobot shouldn't be a mouse droid delivery system, his options are far too wide open for that(cloud car pilots!). I hope that more good and interesting pieces are mad for fringe that cost less then 20 just so lobot gets more friends(and so I can lug around wierd stuff like ephant mon and have matchups were I want him lol.

Black polos 4 regionals 12 of 16 in top 4 slots 4 regional winners. Atlanta is the minis capital of the world. I think we've shown that now. In 2 weeks we will see you guys in tennesee for some more minis action!

First of all: Congrats Greg. Great player, deserves it.

Second of all:

How many world champions do you have? Chicago has twice as many

Heck I (alone, by myself) have won as many regional titles as all the Atlanta guys combined. Yeah - I said it. Boo-ya! (friendly posturing in case this was not clear)

We have 5 to our name now. Give us 2 weeks and we hope to add a 6th. We generally don't count you when we add numbers lol.

Yeah, but we've only been seriously playing for almost exactly 3 years now, which means just 2 GenCons. So our GenCon championship win percentage is 50%!! :P

I got 5th place today, nudged out of the top 4 by Ricky based on strength of schedule. I'll have something written up about it in the next couple of days or so.

EDIT: Alright, finally got some time to write this sucker up.

My squad was, as seen above, Ebony and Ivory (named as such because I had to think of one on the spot and I was using one regular white Echani and one with her clothes painted black by Weeks). My map was Ravaged Base.

Game 1 I played against Cliff Ricciardi, a really cool (and really good!) kid from Charlotte. He had a Mando team with a bunch of Scouts as well as Jaina, so it was about as bad of a matchup as it could be for me. He took me by surprise by seeing one opening I gave him and killing an unactivated Echani with Jaina instead of going after GOWK, like I expected him to, which would have let me take a nice volley of shots with the Echani. He also rolled GREAT, with his scouts needing 18s to hit GOWK (GOWK unactivated, Atris meditating) and he hit 5 out of 8, and 3 got through SSM (including rerolls!). Otherwise the game was pretty straightforward, with Jaina killing GOWK and the Scouts cleaning up, since I wasn't able to attack them without getting too close to be safe due to Cloaked.

Game 2 I get paired with Andy Bumpus, who is playing a single Lancer squad with GGDAC. We play on Ravaged Base, but he makes me take the outside, which sucks. However, round 2 I'm able to tow one of my Echanis up to the Lancer and take shots at it. Needing 10s, 2 get through for 40 damage. He Pawns it and kills the Echani, an Ugnaught, and then rolls a miss on R2, so he doesn't die. I finish the Lancer off and start running GOWK and my JWM down the field. He makes one bold move by Pawning an 86 to run 12, then another 6 to get to my second Echani in the back, but I Evade on of the shots so she lives, and gets to kill the 86 on her turn. Grievous gets down to 20 HP left before he kills the JWM, and GOWK kills the second 86. Finally GOWK is able to kill Grievous and start going after Sidious, who had taken a little damage from the Echani also. I am able to clean up for 200 points. 1-1 with 3 points.

Game 3 I get paired with Graham (ugh). Ravaged Base with me on the outside again. Round 2 I pick off a pair of his Mouse Droids, but that's all he gives me. He does a very ballsy move which I knew he had but didn't expect him to do by Levitating Kyle and running him up to get a Grenades 40 on R2AD and BOTH Handmaidens (I really should have put something in the way....). If both Handmaidens live, Kyle gets screwed and I probably clinch the game. If one of the two lives, it's a very interesting game, because he traded that kill for a bunch of early damage on Kyle. If both die, he clinches the game.... After the saves, not only did both Handmaidens die, but so did R2. So at that point it's pretty much cleanup for him. 1-2, 3 points.

Game 4 I play Nick Ferguson. Again I get the inside of Ravaged Base. This game is pretty straightforward, with me picking off his Anakin in Round 1. Atris keeps his Han from being useful, and he has to just run Jaina and Kyle up to close the gap, while I shoot them down. 2-2, 6 points.

Game 5 I play against Paul, who is playing another Echani-based squad. Round 2 he gets shots on R2 and kills him as well as a bunch of shots on one of my Handmaidens, but she was awesome and Evaded ALL of them. That's a big turning point, because than I shoot back at the two of his Echanis that shot at me, and manage to kill them both. After that it's just a matter of GOWK and the JWM running forward with GOWK deflecting a whole bunch of shots and eventually cutting down the others. I get a full win, so I'm 3-2, 9 points.

That's good enough to get me to 5th place (not 4th due to SoS). I was happy with that, considering I wasn't playing what I considered a very good squad, and had an awful round 1 matchup and got the awful set of saves against Graham in round 3. Also, places 1-4 were all Atlanta players, none of which had won a Regional yet this year, so I was definitely happy that it was going to be one of them.

A very fun trip, thanks to everyone that made it happen, and congrats to Greg for finally being able to close the deal on a Regional! Also thanks to Graham for letting me borrow pretty much my entire squad (and Nathan for his Salacious Crumb!), because I had left all my stuff at my parent's house and didn't realize that until 3 AM Saturday morning. :?

My NC regionals story starts on Friday. Me and my friend Christian drove down on Friday evening and we got this really cheap hotel. The room had no sheets, no comforter on the bed. It had a plastic sheet over the bed. I joked with my friend that this was a hotel where killers brought prostitutes to kill them. I've watched way too much Dexter obviously. I automatically associate plastic with serial killers haha. Anyways the room sucked, the bathroom didn't even have TP. We survived the night at the hotel. Which is saying something, cause it was in a very shady looking area. A lot of shady looking people around that hotel.

The next morning we awoke early and drove to the Rebel Base, we were the first gamers at the shop, we helped carry in drinks, and looked around the shop and admired all the collectors toys and comics for about an hour, before Matt showed up. Now down to the games themselves...

Charlotte Regionals was my worst showing, I went 2-3. I was running a Cad Bane/Arica swap squad with Thrawn/Mas, and Moff Nyna Calixte, and Ozzel. I had ran the same squad in both VA and KY, and did well with the squad. Infact I was in position to make playoffs in KY, but due to forgetfulness didn't make it. I was hoping I would get some redemption in NC and I did, but I didn't.

I did because my first match up was against Graham, who I faced in the last round in KY and lost to his Vader/Arica swap squad. This time however he was running New Republic, which every time someone sets down NR it just makes me smile because I've faced it so many times. I'm really familiar with it. Graham is a great player and played really well, it was a tough match, but I was able to get a win thanks to Cad and Arica getting plus 10dmg to pieces with Stealth which makes getting rid of Mara and Ganner a lot easier.

so I started off 1-0, so I'm feeling good, but that was short lived cause I faced Kris next and he was sporting his OR squad with Bastilla and Battlemasters. I played it as well as I could but, Cad doesn't fare too well against Battlemasters with 110 HP, and defensive capabilities, when he has no Commander Effects boosting his stats. Arica was worthless without Commander Effects. I really wanted this win, cause Kris beat me in VA, but he's now 2-0 against me.

We broke for lunch, and I was 1-1. I wasn't really sweating it. I had a Dr. Pepper and talked with some of the Gamers in the shop. I wasn't too hungry, I was just ready to play.

My next two games were against Vong. I faced Jonathan first, and it was a close one. I won map roll so it was Smugglers Base, which favored my Super Stealth squad. Too bad he really didn't have any shooters. His Vong pretty much ignored Arica. Cad was decently effective. It was a close game that came down to him controlling gambit for 2 rounds. Giving him an extra 10 points. I believe he won by 2 gambit. I could be wrong on that. It was close though.

Against Ian it was a very similar Vong squad, I think he had more Vong Jedi Hunters. Ian is an excellent player, and I had a lot of fun playing him. I had a big chance in this match when I was able to out activate him, and run a Rodian Brute in the back door, and Thrawn Swap Cad in for the kill on his yammosk wark coordinator. For the life of me I couldn't roll well at all against Vong, and I could not kill the War coordinator. Even with Opportunist. Even after winning init, and basing him. After my attempt on the War Coordinators life, Ian was able to attack Cad and did 20 dmg, before I swapped Cad out. That was as close as I got to taking down the War Coordinator, and his squad.

So, now I'm 1-3, and I know I'm out of the playoffs. I don't really feel like playing the last match, but I'm too competitive to leave and give someone an auto win, and I got another NR match in the last match. I played Steven in the last match. He used Galactic Han in his squad with Dash Rendar Jag Fel, and of course Mara/Ganner. I played really aggressive and took out Mara in the 2nd round, and was in position to take out Ganner as well, but had I moved close enough to do it I would have been in the Han disruptive field so I just moved Cad away to safety. I dropped Han in the 4th round, and Ganner shortly followed. 6th round I finished off his squad which was Dash and a uggie.

so I finished 2-3, got a pack of Dark Times, which I pulled a Dengar.

Long drive back to TN. Ran into Tornado type weather, but the highlight of the trip back was the stop at Waffle House. Really improved morale.

Tournament was a lot of fun. It was great to see some familiar faces and to meet new friends. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again in TN. Congrats to Greg who won the NC Regionals.

hahahahahahaha where the h*** did you guys stay, ultrastar??? Next time you can crash at Nate's place, I can't promise there won't be dead hookers but at least there'll be tp. ;) Anyways...to the play report.

charlotte regional pics

Round 1 vs Weeks and his Imp Arica/Cad Bane team
I win map and we play on bothan spinet. I set up on right he on left. I outactivate him by a good margin and steal swap. We both move towards gambit and Dash starts picking off fodder and some commanders. Arica kills some mice. I got fortunate on a mistaken overridden open door to swap and bring Shedao in. He moves and easily kills Arica. Shedao is now also within striking distance of Cad. He wins init and elects to let me go first knowing that I’ll have to score a crit to kill him. I don’t and Cad kills Shai and escapes with 20hp left. I give chase. Pieces are lost on both sides. As time is called, I had finally closed in the gap on Cad and am able to swap in Nen Yim for the kill. But alas…as per usual in these regionals (ask Ricky Heck about my ‘1’ against 10hp vader) I roll a 1. So…to the loser bracket I go.

Round 2 vs Graham and his NR Ganner team
I win map and we play on bothan spynet, he chooses left side. I steal dodonna’s ce. We advance to gambit. By the end of the second round I had moved Shedao two squares from Kyle and a JH bases Kyle on the other side. Kyle is soon gone from the board along with Salacious, Mara moves in to kill the JH but only hits two of his attacks. He gets the unlucky rolls this game. The game is over quickly, I kill Anakin, Mara, and Ganner and finish off Dodonna. It’s over in about 30mins. I didn’t lose a piece. He was just unlucky this game.
Lunch Break. I split one of the pizzas the store had bought for the event and talked to some of the folks that I hadn’t met before.

Round 3 vs Bronson and his Imp Arica/Cad squad
I lose map and we play on the dreaded Smugglers Base. I set up on the side that doesn’t have the ship and steal swap. He has Ozzel so he’s outactivating me by a decent margin. I advance slowly, trying not to lose my guys easily to Arica and Cad. I’m able to hit Thrawn with Dash, putting 30 on him. That’s the last I see Thrawn. As the rounds move on, it becomes increasingly difficult to catch Arica (Cad was always too far away to mount any serious attack). But by the end of the round I had based my JH next to Arica…and realizing that of course he’d win init (thrawn), he would have to swap her out immediately therefore using up his swap first move. A few moves later and I’m able to swap in Shedao to attack an already activated Arica and kills her easily. He’s slowly picking off my pieces, he kills Dash, Lobot, and Gha and a few mice. Lucky for me, the two rounds Shedao spent in Gambit while was enough to win the game once time was called. A great game and pretty intense, and Bronson played the squad very well.
2-1 and 5pts.

Round 4 vs Roy and his NR Luke GM team
Lose map, and play on Smuggler Base…yay. Set up once again opposite space ship. Roy had about 8 activations, so I had him by over twice in activations. I honestly wasn’t too worried about this squad, I felt that with his just 3 hitters I could take him. After a few rounds we are all in the gambit area. I position and mouse between Shedao and Luke and attack, missing once and he djem so’s hitting me back. A JH thud bugs and activates him, the other JH can’t get to him so he tries a thud bug and Luke makes the save. Next round I attack with Shai and miss once and Luke djem so’s again successfully. Luke kills dash and hurts a JH. The JH attacks Luke…misses both. The other JH attacks and misses again. That’s basically the way the dice roll this game for me. When all is said and done, Shedao had roll two 1’s and a 3 to finish off Luke. He mops up the rest of the team, a JH finally kills Luke but it was basically over by then. Roy was the well deserved winner of our Sportsmanship award taking home some boosters and a Spry provided Felcor.

Round 5 vs Ian and his Vong cunning JH/Shai
First time I’ve played against Vong in a competitive match since GenCon Championship in ’08. I win map, so we play on Bothan Spynet. He chooses left and I steal cunning. He advances all his forces and I use the mice to block. I roll poorly in the beginning and I transfer that curse to Ian in the second half of the game. In the end a 10hp Dash and a half hp JH are the only attackers I have that survive. The game was a slugfest.

So I finished 3-2 with 8 points and 7th place. Lobot brought in an R7 and Gamor BG for any game I played that I couldn’t steal swap, otherwise it would be two Rodian Brutes and a Gamor BG. It was a great event. Many props go to Spry for running and judging, Ryn for taking pics and helping out, NameTagMan from TN that helped out, Nick for buying multiple cases for the store to keep product support alive for at least the next year or two, and all those that travelled to make this event a success.
Do-ro’ik vong pratte indeed.

Jonathan, I have no idea where the place was we stayed. Christian probably remembers the name. I gave Christian hell because we stopped at a string of hotels and I would run in and use my charisma (which btw if we were playing KOTOR it would be a freaking 21) to try and get us a better rate on a room. Anyways I gave him hell because we stopped at a bunch of hotels and I talked this lady down to 47 dollars for a night. I tried getting her to go to 45 but she insisted that 47 was as low as she could go. So I tried the ole "Alright well last chance, I'm walking out the door" it didn't work. We finally found a place and I got them down to 45, and Christian took it. Had he just payed the extra two dollars.....Toilet Paper! Bed Sheets, Comforter! If he had just payed that two dollars, and had not been such a cheap skate!

But yeah man next time we will gladly stay at Nate's

I had an absolute blast at the Charlotte regional. Matt ran a great event, the store was really cool, and it's always a pleasure to hang out with the Charlotte guys. I chose to run the tried and true Solo Charge build and it served me well that day. Here's how things went from my point of view.

Solo Charge
Map: Commander's Office
50 Han Solo, Galactic Hero
45 Mara Jade-Jedi
29 Ganner Rhysode
27 Lobot
23 Anakin Solo
12 Gha Nackt
9 General Dodonna
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist
2 Mouse Droid

1st Round was against Andrew's OR squad. I chose to bring in 10 mouse droids. He won the map roll so we played on Theed Palace. This was similar to my match with Ian in the finals in Maryland. It took me by surprise that time, so this time I was ready for it. I took the side with the doorway 3 squares wide leading into the gambit room. I was able to draw LOS to the OR Captain with Han in round one, but missed one of the attacks leaving him alive. I won initiative and finished him off next round. After that, Andrew advanced aggressively with his Battlemasters but just couldn't get to any of my damage dealers (thank you mouse droid wall). He was eventually able to leap his way to Lobot and Dodonna, but by then it simply wasn't enough. The Seer, all 3 Battlemasters, and Bastilla went down before any of my attackers took significant damage. Kudos to Andrew for attacking the mouse droid wall head on instead of trying to dance around it. This was simply a bad match up for him but he played it like a champ and made an exciting game of it. 3 points so far.

2nd Round was against Roy's GM Luke squad. I brought 10 mouse droids hoping to trap Luke, but Ganner had a few things to say about that (more on that later). He won map so we played on Smuggler's Base. I took the side without the armory. He moved quickly to the center of the map as I tried to establish a barrier of mouse droids to keep him in the center room. This was incredibly stupid on my part - by far the worst mistake I made of the day. He levitated his way right past it and based my dudes. I moved Mara adjacent and assaulted Luke. He took the bait and and cancelled it, leaving him with no force points. Now I thought, "win initiative and you just might have a shot at this thing." I lost initiative, Mara died, and the rest of my squad quickly followed suit. Still only 3 points for me.

We broke for lunch and ate at Chipotle's. That place is awesome.

3rd Round was against Christian and his accurate shot handmaiden squad. I won't lie, this squad scared the crap outta me when I first saw it. I brought in 10 mouse droids to ensure that I out activated him and at least took away opportunist. I won map, so we played on Commander's Office. He took the inside. I moved my dudes up into everyone's favorite room knowing that I'd take some damage, but hoping to get myself hidden before things got too bad. He set up perfectly to have 4 good shots into that room, so I did the only thing I could - Han shot first. He hit the handmaiden twice and she failed both evade saves, closing the door in the hallway as she died. This was significant. The next round, I was able to assault Atris. She made her deflect so she lived, and I lost Mara shortly thereafter. Finally I was set up for a good Ani bomb, so I took advantage of it. This killed Atris, brought a handmaiden down to 10 HP, and put 30 on Veers who was acting as a doorman at this point. Ani died after that, but Han and Ganner were able to clean up. This would have been a 3 point win for me, but Jabba crit Han in the last round before Han got to activate. I wasn't able to get the two kills I needed to reach 200 points, so I had to settle for my first 2 point win of the season. 5 points for me now.

4th Round was against Cliff and his Mando squad. I brought 10 mouse droids (seeing a pattern yet?). I won map and we played on Commander's office. He took the outside and moved in to the protected room. Things got heated, and I levitated Mara in to kill an activated scout and move her back to within disruptive so Jaina couldn't retaliate. This was a great idea until Mara missed two attacks needing 5s. So the scout lives and Mara is stuck next to him for fear of opp attacks. Jaina killed Mara and I thought I had lost the game. Ani's explosion went well. It killed 3 of 4 scouts, the gunsmith, and put 30 on Jaina after making her spend a force point on the reroll. I honestly think that if one more scout had survived, Cliff would have won this game. But alas, Ganner and Han were able to seal the deal. 8 points for me now.

5th Round was against Kris and his OR with Revan squad. I brought 10 mouse droids and we played on his map. Despite his best efforts, he simply wasn't able to hack his way through the mouse droids. Again, kudos to him for attacking the mice head on, but he wasn't able to get through to anything significant until Revan, the Seer, and the Battlemater had all died. He did a great job of keeping me out of gambit though, so I was only able to walk away with 2 points. 11 points for me now and a 3rd seed going into finals.

Here I got to play an Atlanta guy for the first time that day. I played Nathan and his Rebel wookie swarm squad. He's played this squad against me before and I always underestimate it. He beat me the last time he played this squad though, so I was much more serious this time. I brought 10 mouse droids and we played on his map - Throne room. I took the side with the actual throne room, built my mouse droid wall, and waited. With disruptive right behind a wall of mouse droids, his squad lost a lot of its mojo. When the time was right, I levitated out and killed Luke. He was playing catch up after that which meant he had to come to me. It was an exciting game, but with 10 mice and disruptive, my squad was the rock to his scissor.

For the final game, I had the pleasure of playing my good friend Ricky Heck. He's new to the game, but he picked it up very quickly. He's come to be known as our secret weapon within the Atlanta group. He was playing lancer, Asaj, and Geonosian bombs. I brought a felucian warrior and a gamorrean bodygurard. We played on his map and I took the side with the armory. I locked my softies in the armory and didn't want to expose them until after the lancer died. His first strafe put 20 on Han and killed the bodyguard. He actually rolled a 1 on the felucian. It was the first time I ever wanted to check dice on a roll of a 1. But early in the next round, he was able to strafe again, this time killing the felucian. I had much better luck with my blocks this time, so Mara and Anakin took no damage and I think Han was missed - it's tought to remember at this point, but I know Han had 70 HP after both strafes. then the lancer died and Asaj became my next area of concern. He set up a good rolling cleave for the next round. He won initiative and made his move. Fortunaltely for me, Anakin made his block, so she didn't get to kill him and rolling cleave onto someone else. Then Asaj died, I kept everyone withing Han's dsruptive, and I was able to survive the Geonosian onslaught.

Again, I had a great time at this event. Thanks to Matt and Ryn for running an event that went very smoothly and had plenty of prize support for so many people. Thanks to the store for staying open past its normal hours so that we didn't have to finish in the parking lot. Also, thanks to the Charlotte group for hosting us and to everyone who travelled as well. It was great to see everyone and I hope to see you all again at Gencon!
