BUt the next set after legacy looks to be another Reb/Imp set. That is 3 out of four 4 sets. My God the mighty republic cant even keep up. It is almost down to two playable factions. Lets face it Republic really only has the JWM and R2 for competitive play.

The thing is that "Imperial Entanglements" doesn't match the theme of either of the other two sets hinted at for 2008 in the Gencon semilar-- Clone Wars and KOTOR. And a 2 month gap between sets would be the shortest break ever. Something doesn't seem right about the situation so I'm reserving judgement on that Amazon listing for now...

I still think its a Starship Battles set.

We probably aren't getting any more Class 2's for the time being, this is just something to increase Class 3's and 4's.

Just a hunch...

I agree as well. The timing seems wrong. And there is the mysterious 4th set that Rob expressed at CIV that was suddenly 3 at Gencon. I think its an SSB set :)

Just looked it up again, and Amazon is referring to it as a "book."

Perhaps my original instincts were correct. *cough*massbattle*cough*

I agree, there needs to be more diversity in the metagame. Now it's dominated by Rebels, Republic and Imperial.

Come on, WotC, give the 'minor' factions some love!

Before the last set it was Republic/Imperial.

Doesn't Amazon list most of the SWM stuff as books?

I would love to have equal faction support in each set. It is getting ridiculous how many Rebel and Imperial pieces we are getting without (almost) any support for Old Republic, Sith, Seperatist, New Republic, and Vong.

Yeah, they always list minis as books. I am really hoping that it is something other than a SWM, but someone posted something (a few pieces that are supposed to be in the set or something) that made it really sound like a SWM. It definately does not fit into what we were told at gencon.

Are you hinting at a battle pack scenario that is RotJ oriented?

@billiv15,
Seps are a movie faction, how do you rationalize them not being in the sets more than they have been.

Also, bill, I'm not complaining, its a question and a poll.

I'd like to see what other people think

I know you'd like to see Rebs, Imps and Rep get 20 figs a set, but I don't think that realistic either.

The game is based around marketing concept, which is dumb because they'd sell just as many booster with the sets that have 15 Rebel figs as opposed to 24

Also, whomever said they needed 24 figs to bring them up to competitive was wrong.

They needed the 7 decent figst they got this set that will actually be played as opposed to the Rebel Marksman and the Mon Cal Med Tech which won't be, so they didn't need 24 pieces, they needed 8 or so decent pieces.

Of course this game is based around a marketing concept. What game isn't?

The reason that there's more Rebels than, say, Separatists, is because people like the Rebels. The rebels are cool. The Seps, on the other hand, aren't. I bet you that there's AT LEAST a 3:1 ratio of Rebel fans to Sep fans. I only know one person who likes the Seps.

Also, keep in mind that this is the 30th anniversary of the OT. If I'm just some guy at Target, and I'm looking at the collectibles aisle, and I saw a battle droid with the 30th anniversary logo, I'd be confused, and go "I don't remember those guys in ANH.." . If I saw Han Solo, I would go "ooh! Cool! Han Solo! 30th anniversary!"

That's just my (probably wrong) opinion on the matter. Imperials and Rebels sell. Weird stuff like the Yuuzhan Vong doesn't.

I'm one of those in the minority. Dooku forever :P Seriously thought it's best not to have to play the same 3 fractions all the time; variety will keep the game going. I'm looking forward to Legacy already.

I play basically every faction, except the old republic. I mostly play the sith, seps, republic, the empire, and rebels.

For fun games, any faction is acceptable.

As of now for competative ones, only the rebs, seps ( san hill ), republic, and the empire are good enough to be played. And hell, that's all 4 movie factions, so that's good enough for me.

I'm not against the factions having an equal share, though.
But I think we all know that a set dedicated to the Seps, OR, and NR wouldn't do so hot.

Well yeah, it wouldn't do great since only a 3 factions would be in that set. I think the game would do better if every faction was represented in every set, then everyone's happy. Even if OR, Vong,Sith, Mandos, Seps only get 3-5 figs in each, at least they would get something. Just hopefully the few figs they get will be competive.

I worded my last post wrong; sorry. I meant that if the majority of the figs were one of those 3 factions, not many people would care.
But I agree, if those factions got 3-5 competitive figs per set, then they would be okay.

You can either make a game and then market it, or you can do what Wotc is doing and make a marketing concept for other games and then use SW as a testing platform for those other games.

Basically, the game is only growing when LFL wants it to.
