GenCon released the event schedule yesterday. I am only finding a couple SWM gaming listed, but none of those are hosted by SWMGamers. Anybody else having this problem, or am I just looking in the wrong place? (Non-historical minis, keyword "Star Wars.")

If GenCon has a glitch in their system and/or haven't uploaded the SWM events, would it be possible for Dean or somebody to post the SWM gaming schedule here? I need to figure out True Dungeon options, but I base those decisions on SWM events. 8-)

This should be a point of concern. I've checked the event registration system and can't find any listing of anything running the Star Wars Minis ruleset.

However, elsewhere on the 2011 site it mentions that event registration opens on May 1st. I'm seriously hoping that they're still adding all the events to the database.

I checked with Ray, he said it's a Gencon test, not the official schedule. Schedule goes live on Sunday May 1st. SWMs should be there. But thanks for pointing it out, was definitely worth a second check.

This is an email I received Mar 25th from Gencon

Quote:
Testers Wanted!

Event Registration is coming soon, and we want help making sure our system is up to snuff! Interested? Up for the challenge? If so, then mark your calendar for April 10th and read below!

What We Need...
We need as many people as possible to test our event registration processes! There are changes throughout the registration system that we need help testing, from our new-and-improved Wish List (previously Watch List) to a simpler purchasing process.

We also need to test how much stress our system can take, to make sure everything behind-the-scenes is running as efficiently as possible. We’re trying to mitigate the issues we’ve had in the past by replicating the event registration opening day scenario during this test. The key is to get as many people as possible to try and purchase events at the exact same time.

How Will It Work?
Our TEST site will look a lot like the current registration site and will include all of your current Gen Con account information. You will be able to add and remove friends, purchase a free TEST badge and browse a limited number of TEST events. Then on April 10th we need everyone to push the button to add their events from the Wish List to their Cart…and see what happens! Remember, this is only a TEST, so feel free to shop ‘til you drop!

If you run into any issues along the way, we’ll have a special Forum on the Gen Con Community site and a testing email address for you to send us feedback. Your comments will help us clean up any bugs in the system.

Save The Dates!
Beginning April 3rd, the TEST site will open. You will have one full week to add TEST events to your Wish List. The official Event Registration TEST date is April 10th. Registration will open at exactly 3 pm (Eastern).

This is what they have on their site-

Event Registration opens at Noon (Eastern) on May 1, 2011. Get all your event information for Indy 2011 here…coming soon!

No, it's not a test. They tested their "new, it-won't-crash" system awhile back. Yesterday was the official release of the event schedule and May 1 is the day we actually buy event tickets.

In the past they have updated the listings right up until registration starts and sometimes even after registration has started. I am sure that since we are not WOTC or Pastimes, etc, we were not in the first wave to be added to the system. I would assume that the events will be up shortly.

Okay, I was a bit off on my information, sorry, but here is an excerpt from my last email from Derek Guder:
Quote:
Right now, the Star Wars miniatures events are not active since Dean and I
were still working out some final details. I had made some drastic
adjustments to the maximum number of players for his events (overall based
on attendance data from last year, but just done across-the-board for my
convenience).

I need to get confirmation on the maximum number of players for your
events, as well as the table sizes you would prefer (30" x 8' or 60" x 8').

I will be calling him in a short while and hopefully clear it all up.

Update.
Last night, I got three emails from Derek giving me all control and information. I went back and wrote a lengthy email telling him exactly what (I think) we need. I have a feeling I will hear back from him today, and we will be set in motion to be sure our events are listed by Sunday.
One request we both have is the same as so many years in the past. It helps us out immensely when people go ahead and sign up for the events and buy tickets for them. If I ask for x amount of seating and we only have event tickets sold for x-30 then it does not help our cause. So, as many people who can, please sign up for the events as early as you can.
If there is more information to give, I will certainly let you all know.

Would it be possible to go ahead and post the schedule on the forums here somewhere, that way people could try to start planning their weekend?

If the SWM schedule isn't available until the 1st when ticket buying goes live, then some people may miss the high-priority events if they need to take time to look up the SWM stuff and then decide what they want to do.
