WoW is very, very different from those early days. It's a kids game more now than ever before. You don't even have to read the quests anymore, you pretty much just type M for map and it tells you exactly where to go to do the quests. And don't even get me starting on raiding (which I call paradoxing, because there is this wide-spread attitude of "in order to raid in location X you must have already been there). Hello? Doesn't everyone have a first time? It's crazy! Needless to say I don't play the game for the purpose of raiding, as fun as it might be to defeat the major bosses of the game.

Anyway, yes I plan to play TOR and I am looking forward to the idea of a Gamers-centric server.

That does sound fun.

I can't wait till the info really starts to flow. So much more I want to know.

Matt Peterson and I are planning to play this, and we expect to have a Gamers group on the same server to do it :)

We both played WoW back in the day, when 60 was the top dog, and made it through most of the high level stuff back in the day. Got tired of relying on children to do raiding and never looked back on quitting :)

Yeah I was 60 raids all the way up to the more current stuff. Killed the Lich King (which was a majority of what drove me) and gave it all up.
shortest wow career summary ever.

And yeah it really is a kids game now.. just hitting the map to see where to go while u get your free epics.. all in a days work?
remember when you saw someone in Tier 2... let alone maybe.. maybe that guild who had some Tier 3 gear? no more respect or glory in that game.

A lot of guildies I had over the years are going to make the SWTOR jump when the time comes. perhaps all of us wishing to play should keep details together for the release. all end up on the same server, that would be pretty slick.

edit: we do plan to play Sith though, and I can 100% say anyone who has a desire to be the Imp Agent or Bounty Hunter will not be disappointed.

Reposting this link seeing as its frequently updated, tons of information. and my beta time is over as well, the biggest thing I can tell you is that the Sith Inquisitor can be a twi'lek.. which isn't listed yet. Doesn't mean it can't change though.

I think 2 guilds are being set up, so I don't expect it to be an issue, though I suspect the Empire will be very popular.

I'll wait and see what the reviews say after the initial release before i join up, I'm still enjoying my time playing WoW but i am thinking about picking up another MMO to play, I was looking at STO due to its ship bulding aspect, which interest me greatly, sicne i loved to play the old Star Trek ship buldiing game.

restricting formats by set
Some chosing not to play the game if and when another company picks it up without the current mechanics

Has anyone thought to set up the guild yet. They have the guild page up and you can start creating your guild

Either it's slow or just accepted the first? one: you're currently only in the DS one

No idea, still no application in the LS one, but the DS one still shows you as a BH.

The Sith Warrior progression was really cool. I really like those armors shown.

That's what I've been fearing. The fact that there isn't even a tentative release date has been very telling.

Dimetrodon, when playing through the beta, what was gameplay like? I mean, beyond how it looked, did you have an obvious rotation, what was gear like, etc etc etc? I've looked at the website and most of the stuff they show there is animation, storyline, etc. And how does one set me up with this guild you're making?
If SWTOR resembles vanilla or maybe even TBC WoW, I'm all for it :D
