Well Disruptive hurts them quite badly, but they have certainly been getting closer and closer to being competitive.

I don't know if you can call any squad at any point level right now meta, there's just to many choices.

We have enough big pieces to counter each other and new factions have been given enough synergy options so that you cannot plan for everything.

You squad needs to win your map, side, and 2-3 key inits almost to have an above average chance of defeating another player of similar skill and squad quality.

Back on topic, there is probably a squad at the 150 level where they can be competitive, but you either have to run Nom Bombs or a Warmaster/Officer squad.

Disruptive characters nerfs nom bombs. Droids can't be affected by spit poison or anything like that so I think droids could possibly nerf nom bombs also but droid squads aren't really that competitve right now so disrutive would be a more common counter.

Disruptive also nerfs any attempts to make the Warmaster useful. Vong really need 2 things right now to make them decently playable:

- A counter to Disruptive (which I doubt will ever happen)
- Booming Voice (which could open up Vong squads without Nom... but still nerfed by Disruptive).

Nym is fringe and available to the Vong.

I'm guessing you meant a cheap recon vong unit. Like a probe droid but living.

If the Vong did have a recon piece, would the game become:
Vong win init, 2x Thud bug on your opponents big hitter, then you damage the big hitter with the rest of your squad.

It seems to me the last set was all about dealing damage quickly and low defence. Both of these really make the game go faster. Thud bug has the opposite effect on game play.

It depends on how much power your able to pack into a vong squad (which is not much if you stay superstealthed).

WHat really stops the Vong becoming meta is the fact their best addition (cheaper bugs and spit poision) came in a set with a very playable hard counter.

you may be able to play competitively with them but its unlikely you'll win many tourneys.

If Vong win the init the Warmaster will Triple attack at +19 for 20/30 damage a blow and than a Thudbug from a grunt on the thing the Warmaster just beat the smack out of.

Ah, but in making the game faster, you rely less and less on strategy and more and more on dice luck. I prefer a slower game that allows for some strategery then a hyper fast one determined by 2 inits (back to back) and 1 round of rolling dice.

I think the game has been about winning back to back inits since ROTS.

At the time, my favorite squad was:
Obi
Ani
R2 astromech
2x Twilek BG

I have to agree with that. As much as I liked the 2 times I basicly won the game on the first turn thanks to a lucky 20 with Boba I took much more satisfaction (and got more enjoyment from playing) the hard fought wins that I really had to work to get.
