I know it's been done before but I'd like to see if Doft changed anything. But what do you think the best shooter and beatstick per faction are.

I agree with Weeks on almost everything. However, I would suggest one change:

Imperial
Beatstick: Vader, Scourge of the Jedi. DjemSo, Riposte, and JH make for a very intimidating mini. He's also much cheaper.

Yeah, I'd go with Vader SotJ over Lord Vader as well. I ran a 150-point 3-figure all-faction match that included Vader SotJ and GOWK. Vader never missed on any of his attacks.

I'll agree with SotJ over Lord Vader. I wouldn't call LV a beatstick, he's more of a surgical striker.

I'd also swap out the Jedi Seer with the Battlemaster, or maybe even Revanchist. The Seer's strength is all in Jedi Reflexes, which isn't really a beatstick quality. That's like saying Dodonna or Rieekan are the Rebel's best shooter; sure, they make non-melee attacks, but I don't think that's really the purpose of the question.

As for a Sith shooter, choices are pretty slim, but I don't think it's the Sith Operative. I'd say it's a toss up between the SHAD and the new Sith Acolyte. The Dark Jedi Assassin is actually pretty solid too, although it's a lot of points for low HP. I'd consider all of those better than the Operative.

Otherwise it looks pretty good. Shimmra might deserve the nod over Sheado, but I think that's more of a matter of preference. I'd consider them about even for this.

With GOWK's CE giving him the help, I'm not at all surprised at that.

Make no mistake, there are some very good LV builds (most of them rely heavily on Thrawn's Opportunist CE), and he is a very good piece. But I just think Vader Scourge is more cost-effective; furthermore, because of the current meta, which makes doing damage on an opponent's turn very important, his DjemSo/Riposte abilities make him very useful.

Weeks and I had this discussion somewhere else and I too, said SotJ. I've never heard LV referred to as 'a surgical striker'. Sounds like it's referring to Dr. Ball out of Robot Chicken. Good day, sir!

Ha, yeah, by "surgical striker" I mean he's best used by going in via swap, killing something, then getting out of there. He doesn't have the staying power to stick around too long after going in, but he does a ton of damage while he's there.

I give the Scourge Vader a +1 over Lord.

I realize 'shooter' really applies as a term for those figs w/o melee attack, but personally, I wouldnt have classed Mara, Jedi in the shooter category, as she is best utilized when going toe-to-toe with her opponent, and using Lightsaber abilities.

So, for NR, I think Id have to go with Ganeral Han. Less dmg output if Mara gets Cunning, but the Accurate helps alot, as does NTMTO.

Other than those two, I think I agree with almost all the other ones.

Lord Vader doesn't fight things for very long, he usually kills anything that may be a problem outside of stupid Kyle Katarn.

I guess you need to define "beatstick" I interperet that to mean "beats the crap out of things with melee" which is exactly what Lord Vader does. Scourge vs Lord Vader would end in a draw anyway they would just kill each other lol. I picked LV because of the speed he has and his tricks (leap, Overwhelming Force, Rage, Assualt, MOTF 2). I stand by my selection.

As for Sith shooters i was at a loss they have no good Unique Shooter.

Alright I need a better explanation for Han Solo Galactic Old Guy. Because sure he has some gimmicks but he has never, ever in any game I have every played with him has he been able to equal his points.

Han Solo Rebel Hero on the other hand has done it many times and has exceeded himself in some occasions. Han Galctic Hero is a swiss army knife that doesn't fold back up and never has any focus. Sorry....but I think it best to stick with Mara as the shooter choice, it's that or call out Talon Karrde who is a great Uggie Killer.

I fixed that for you ;) There are no Unique Sith non-melee pieces besides the Force Spirit/Hologram pieces.

I like sashlon's list with the following changes:

VONG:
Beatstick - Sheado Shai (because he can go after anyone. JarJar, Diplomats, etc without having to worry about silly rules)

NR:
Shooter - Han Solo, GH
Beatstick - Jaina Solo, SOTJ

dalsiandon wrote:

Simple. He has Accurate Shot and can do more damage from a distance than Mara can. Yes, Mara has a higher attack and all, but Han can do 60 damage to his enemy of choice while Mara can do 40 to who ever is in front. Han also naturally has Evade and Greater Mobile. If you wanted to give Mara the same, you're really paying 68 points for her when you throw in General Wedge. The fact that Han has Disruptive and NTMTO is just a bonus. For shooting purposes, I would take Han, GH over Mara any day.

Sincerely,
Jester007

I dont Kno about that Mara Assessment. with Cunning, she can put out 80 to a legal Target, and lay down 120 to an enmy on the "front".
Galactic Hero is nice, but with only a 14 after his cunning, vs. Mara's 16 after hers, how can no one pick Mara? Ive seen her wreck squads almost single handedly, :fight: where I've seen Han.... :stormie2: .miss alot.

Mara can only use Assault against adjacent enemies. So she can only do 80 damage against a piece that has already activated, if she's adjacent.
