So I have not been playing or collecting the game as long as alot of people so there are 3 of the RM's nobody in our play group have that are not easily substituted (or at least not that I have thought off)

Poggle
Sora
Destroyer Droid

We have most of the pieces post CW, what would use to represent these pieces?

well, a chameleon can make a pinch hitter for the DD, look at someone who is cloaked for Sora, like Sidious Sith Master (since cloaks hide species), and just any alien for Poggle, perhaps a Felucian ?

Well, there are several Weequay pieces available in the game, as well as the geonosians. Should be easy to get your hands on a couple of those for cheap through one of the site sponsors or Ebay or something.

The DD is obviously a tough one. Any large-based piece can work though. Maybe something like a Sith Heavy Assault Droid?

Yeah, I too was thinking the SHAD would be a good RM for the new Droideka.

SHAD would be best I think.

The Weequay leader was a Free Comic Book Day promo a couple of times, so there should be plenty to have for cheap. I hate suggesting buying stuff, so there is also the Weequay Pirate out of GaW. You'll just have to swap in a lightsaber.
Bariss Offee, Jedi Knight wouldn't be a terrible choice either, or along the same vein, A'Sharad Hett.

Geonosians are stupid cheap. But the best non-buying suggestion I would have is the Blood carver Assassin, painted Green.

Although the SHAD would probably be the best replacement for the Destroyer Droid, I think he is looking for a post Clone Wars replacement. I would have to agree with Ruhk that the Chameleon Droid would be the best choice.

I would think that any large droid will do for the DD. The Chameleon Droid or SHAD are good options, and GaW had 2 large droids (I think that was the most recent set to do so).

For Poggle, all the Geonosians are from Clone Strike, so if you don't have any of them, thematically, it probably doesn't matter what you use, but I would suggest an alien, possibly with an appropriate weapon. I don't think Poggle has Melee Attack, so if you have the MotF Grievous (and aren't using him), that might be a possibility. A Vong or something like the Taung Warrior might work, too, since I don't think the current alternate for Poggle necessarily implies a ranged weapon.

For Sora, again, I would go with non-human and weapon appropriate. If you don't have a Weequay, there are plenty of non-human Jedi to chose from in recent sets. I might go with the Jensaarai Defender just for the cool factor. :)

Good point. So yeah the Chameleon has the closest appearance post-CW.

I would suggest to at least trying to make it look close, as it'll help avoid confusion for your opponent. Though a repainted Taung Warrior isn't a bad option either. Being a Mando piece it avoids the Fringe factor of the Blood Carver I suggested.

Great suggestions, thank you I think I have some stuff to work with, I only have one of the SHAD, I have 3 of the Chameleon droid and that could work since there is no chance of having the actual one in a "sealed" tourney. The other option I was thinking was the LR-57 I will have to see which works the best.

Weaquay Pirate, thank you for that I had forgotten about that piece and I think I have several since I had 2 cases of GaW, (the the Jen Defender could be a cool piece for that too)

I had though about using one of the toydarians for Poggle but that could get tricky with that being the RM for Salcious Crumb. Maybe with a paint job it would not be too bad at least it has wings :P

Toydarian is small, Poggle is Medium. So that won't work.

This is an important thing to keep in mind. Both the check list and the cards have this information. On the cards all base should be considered medium unless otherwise noted beneath the image of teh character.

good call, I have a couple of empty strormtrooper bases from my yammosk makeover, so I would have to rebase it if I went that way, but that seems like alot of work when I could just go buy one for a buck

As TCW points out, the important thing is to avoid confusion.

The most important thing is probably to use an accurately-sized base. After that, depending on your venue, it's either recognizability or capability. If I recall correctly, one of the guidelines for using customs in tournament play is that the weaponry must be accurate (so, for example, while the Weequay Pirate IS a Weequay like Sora, it has a gun instead of a lightsaber, so doesn't match on capability).

If you're just playing with your buddies, none of that matters, though.

I kind of figured he would go that route and left adding a lightsaber unstated. But you're right, it was probably a good idea to mention it.

Except for swapping, does the base size matter? I do not recall any other base size restrictions.

Technically, yes. At least as the custom ruling is currently written and I doubt that'll be something to change. Some of the ideas I've seen for proxies have made me go "eeesh" enough without having a ruling that would practically allow different colored ugnaughts to represent your whole squad.

That can be easy to forget thanks for the reminder. Since I am normally the TO locally and most of our players have no miniatures or very few we are pretty mellow especially since we do not charge to play and host in a private venue, and really only average 6-10 people for an event. But since some of us are looking to improve enough to compete at a regional we really need to make sure that we have some of this stuff down. I appreciate the reminders.

I gotta say I like the idea of the Felucian for Poggle a lot more, I think if I play him I'll use that instead. Mostly because its a lot more prominent and looks cooler. Just seems more fitting for a leader since its less generic.

For targeting as well. A mini that takes up 4 squares as opposed to 1 is easier to see, thus easier to target.

I think he meant in the context of small vs medium base sizes.
