I was able to get some at Gencon (starters only) and then Targets (especially in St. Louis). My area Targets are all dried up now but I am about 75%, so once I get a job I'll buy the rest of ebay.

No, it isn't too late.

The starters and boosters you find should be at bargain prices. Check your local Target, Shopko, Big Lots, Best Buy, etc.

You can use the rules in the starter ... or, you could use Engineers rules found on this site. His version 2 rules are much better. Check out SWMiniverse episode #19 where we talk about the improvement.

keep your eye on eBay, I just saw a fairly complete lots at about $80.. for about 70 or so ships. Every now and again there is a decent one like that being sold. I was able to get my set completed doing that.

It's never too late. You can still find them, I have found that a lot of the singles are a bit pricey nowadays, but cases and boosters you can get for a real bargain. You jsut have to be patient when shopping for them.

Oh and yeah play with Erics rules, they are 100% better than anything that WOTC did for the SWMSSB game.

I intend to go through my SSB collection over the next month or so here, and really tidy things up, and figure out what I have, what I want to keep, and what I can trade/sell off. So, look for me to offer up some stuff here in the future. But yeah, you can still find some dirt cheap cases around a few places.

I have a few things I discovered, send me a pm and we can talk. I'll send you a list sometime tomorrow.
