September 25th in Carbondale Illinois is going to be Little Egpy Wars, a 1-day gaming convention, with 3 SWM tournies, and I dont know what all else, lol.

http://warhorn.net/little-egypt-wars-2010/

The link will take you to the website, so you can check out the schedule and register early to save yourself some money. Also, the site lists that each tournament has 32 open spots. Ignore that. Anyone who wants to show up can play.

Location:
Carbondale Civic Center
200 S Illinois Ave
Carbondale, IL 62901
Date: September 25th
Time: SWM tournies at 9am, 2pm, and 7pm
Entry Fee: $15 at the door, $10 if you register early(which will let you buy a discounted Little Egypt Wars t-shirt as well)

9am: Fantastic Four tournament. DCI Rules will apply.

2pm: 200pt Constructed tournament. DCI rules will apply.

7pm: 200pt Tile Wars constructed tournament. DCI rules will apply.

All tournaments will run 4-5 rounds, or enough to cut to a clear winner, time permitting.

So far we have a case of miniatures for prize support, donated by Castle Perilous, the local gaming shop, but I am working on getting more. We should also have door prizes and sportsmanship awards for each tournament.

So make sure to mark your calendar!!

Ive gotten donations from Mapmaker and should have some in the mail from jediCartographer for additional prize support.

You'll definitely want to make it out to try to win some of this.

Ok, Im officialy taking suggestions for dividing the maps for prize support. I currently have 4 maps and 1 tile pack from Mapmaker, and jedicartographer says there is a map pack in the mail coming to me, so it ought to be here in a few days.

So, dividing those up for 3 tournies:

Idea 1:
Tile Wars: tile pack
200pt constructed: 2 Mapmaker maps
FF: 2 Map maker maps
Grand prize to overall winner of the day(who cannot be me or carl, as we arent playing in all three tournies): JC mappack

I like this one cause it kinda spreads the prizes out all over all day fairly evenly, and gives an incentive to play all three games. Dont like it cause it gives those who do poorly in even one tourney no chance at winning the grand prize

Idea 2:
Tile Wars: tile pack
200pt constructed: 4 Mapmaker maps
FF: JC mappack

I like this one cause if you do well in at least one tourney, you have a good chance of getting the map/tile prizes. I dont like it cause the 4 mapmaker maps would be seperate prizees, meaning that one tourney would have 4 prizes from the maps/tiles, while the other two will only have 1.

Keep in mind we are also getting a case of minis, probably be divided up to 4 boosters/ tourney.

So, how do YOU think this should be handled? One of those, or maybe some other way?

I have to work that day, so unfortunately I won't be able to attend. I think the rest of the Owensboro crowd had already committed themselves to a different convention before learning of this event.

Hope you have great luck with your games!!

Hmm...

I do like the idea of the JC Map Pack as a grand prize. (is it MP4?)
It's a big prize befitting the overall winner. Perhaps it could be determined by most victory points, which would give a better chance of winning to everyone, and encourage complete games? (one more thing to keep track of, and concessions would muck that up, so might have to play all games to time that didn't finish early...not so good)

The first option certainly seems best to me. If I come up with another idea, I'll post again.

Yeah, sorry we had decided to attend a comic convention in Nashville before we even heard about the tournament. I would have liked to attend but just not going to happen this time.

I would assume its MP4, though I dont know for sure, as its not come in the mail yet.

If it is though, Im gonna be supasadface that I cant win it, if we go that route.

JC Map Pack - just draw names out of a hat - anyone who played in a SWM event during the day?

Also, could give out the tile set earlier so maybe someone that doesn't have them could win some before the tiles event.

Well the reasons Im kinda hesitent to give the mappack out as an actual prize is 1) I dont wanna split it up, cause then 4 people just have 1 map each out of the pack, which doesnt really do anyone good, as none of them have the complete mappack, and still need to buy it, which leads to 2) its 8 maps( 4 doublesided) as one prize, opposed to 2 maps ( 1 doublesided) or a pack of tiles for the rest of those prizes.

BTW, I just got the mappack in the mail.

JC, if you read this, thanks again!

I didn't mean to split it up. (for the reasons you stated)

IDK...?
