So with the new upcoming Yammosk I decided to try my hand at customizing for the first time. I still want to do some paint and clean up first here is my first run at it. Nothing special cut it off the base and lowered it on to the plate the cut the legs off flipped the around and put the at new angles.

Looks pretty cool, I can't wait for the full stats for the Yammosk, it will help my vong greatly, and I do enjoy them so...

I'll be certain to incorporate some of your look into the one I end up doing.

Thanks I want to paint it next,(thinking red) thinking about cutting the arms in half to give the more tentacle appearance and then possible take one of my troopers and impale it though one of the arms too...

I'd think a more ghoulish flesh-tone color, after all it is a vong creation, I can't see it being a red color all over, maybe some highlights or hints however.

As for the arms/tentaciles, that's an idea I like, although I'd be more in favor of wrapping around the guy then impaling him, kind of like what it did to Kyp's apprentice in Vector Prime, leading it toward it's mouth with the big tooth, (the mind image it keep sending him.) Impending doom is far more scary then the aftermath of doom meet.

I was only thinking red as all the cover art and one of the comics had it that color. Granted the was to blend into all background, but It seems like it would be really striking that color, IDk i have not really decided one way ot another yet.

I thought about wrapping something up but I thought of maybe doing it with a vong, since the Yammosk though of their charges as children having wrapped up like it was dead and then having taken it's revenge on a trooper. So many choices.

Ok here is the product, I started with a red base coat

Image

I wanted to get it looking like it was like a skin covering's it so I put a light pearl white coat on top of it

Image

but I really didn't like it so I added a 2nd coat

Image

then I added a bunch of eyes and a poor trooper who found himself on the wrong side of the battlefield. To make the hole in the trooper i started with just a thin slice through his core and than used a sheet rock screw to create a hole though the middle of it's body

Nicely done! This is exactly the kind of stuff we're hoping to see. These things are what will help people understand that it really isn't very difficult, and can be very cheap to do customs like this.

Including the cost for the KWS and the trooper and the paints, I bet that model would still cost less than $5! And it's instantly recognizable as a V Set character, and not a KWS anymore. :)

Thanks for the feedback, I took the single large eye from Cerous Mutor custom and just added little extra eyes all over. The Pearl white finish looks better in person looks like polished bone. It was super easy and the first time I had ever done this.

Paint and glue = 2.50
Figures = 3.00
Cutting 25% of my thumb nail off slicing a leg in half Painful
Time less than 2 hours

Worth it 100%

LOL true. Will cost a lot more than $5 if you end up needing stitches. Be careful with those exacto knives guys! I know it's tough to do, but do try to always cut away from your fingers and other parts of your body. If you have to, go pick up a piece of scrap wood from Home Depot for like $.50 and use that to cut against.

I seriously need to start on customizing stuff with better paint, lol. I got crappy $1 at Meijer that are rough and chip off. Also need to research the Yommosk to get a better idea of what it looks like. If it's supposed to have tentacles then maybe sanding down the rings/joints on the KWS' legs might be needed. Glad I had a dozen or so KWS to experiment on, lol!

I like it, I actually like it with the light red, go figure, and I was opposed at first. Strange that our opinions on it flopped. Buit I still like the end result alot. I still think I will go with a ghoul skin color on mine.

SO I've started the custom work on mine. To this point I've re-cut and reposed all but two of the arms. I've also taken the sides of a Gungan warriors head to make the beak. I used green stuff to create a lift for it and to make a pool like look around the creature. It looks as if it is lifting itself from it's nutrient pool using it's longest tentacles. It doesn't look particularly menacing but I'm okay with that. I'll post picks once it's done.

EXCELLENT work! The best thing about it is that this gives me a use for the leftovers after turning one of my KWSs into a Dianoga! Now to find a base.

Here is my finished product, I have it emerging from it's nutrient pool (Similar to the one Jason observed in Traitor), using it's tentacles to pull itself up. I tried to make it appear as if the fluid was still in places on the creature as if it hadn't had enough time to flow back down yet. The knobby things at the base from the spider helped real well providing a frothy look that was spilling over the wall of the pool.

I'm not sure if the image conveys it but I tried to make the tentacles look longer then they are by taking what I had cut from the others and placing them below and in the nutrient mix.

This required more than half of my green stuff from my tube. But that's okay, the skirt of nutrient liquid was well worth it.

That is pretty cool. I have been thinking about doing some customs and I think the KWS/Yammosk is gonna be my first one at some point.
