GW, Map pack1 is available for free download at the holocron. just look in my folder! I am pretty determined to at least re-release the Theed map in the not too distant future.

JC thank you so much :) I wanted to buy mp1 from you but you didn't have any left.

I will keep the Theed map in mind and wait to see if you release so I can purchase straight from you vs taking the download and getting it printed. if you don't re-release then I will go the download route.

I'm really curious what you all say about the abandoned casino and ughnaught mines.

The reason I ask is I have a whole extra box of those. I'd love to find away to get those sold cheap, and use the money to re-release the theed map.

Both Coruscant maps are great, IMO. My only concern would be the tightness (inside rooms) and long shooting alleys (more of a problem in the Slums than the Casino). Same thing with the Mines, very shooter friendly.

I would really love to see AG7's Mustafar legal in 150/200. By artwork alone, it's probably my favorite custom map I've played on. Anchorhead plays very well too. ;)

Abandoned Casino right now is one of my favorites. Yavin Sanctuary has been my favorite to play on despite the openness of it since it came out.

I'll not lie, abandoned casino is one of my least favorite map out of all the custom map packs.

Those coruscant maps shouldv'e been better. Thety were a step backward for me I think. They were the last map sI was working on for map pack 2, and I was just so burnt out at that point. I pretty much started map pack 2 immedietley after map pack 1, and I think I may have gotten impatient. I think the black pit slums turned out better for the most part though, even though there are some LOS issues

The ughnaught mines is definitley in my upper half of favorte maps though. And All the games I've played on it has gone pretty well. Seems like both sides have enough time to set up in good places in the first round or so. And Gambit is a bit closed off ,but not too bad.

Maybe the color might be off on the Coruscant maps like something other then purple but I truly enjoy and feel that abandoned casino is one of the best balanced maps I have played.

It's not clear to me if I need to nominate my maps for the Standard list or not, so just in case it is expected, here's my self-nomination. :)

I think all four of my currently-available poster maps are balanced enough and fair enough to be present on the Standard list:

Exodus-Class Heavy Courier

Offworld Shipping Center

Swamp Caves

Desert Sanctum

I'm not sure if all should make it on the Restricted list, but they have the basic criteria I've come to adopt for a competitive map: reasonably protected starting areas, multiple approaches to gambit, some form of hard protection in/around gambit, and enough variation in terrain types to support a healthy range of strategies from either side.

That's obviously subjective and you folks are free to debate the finer points of each, but there's my two cents. I'd like to see them on the Standard list, and I think they hold up quite favorably when compared to the other maps on the Standard list.

Also: All four are currently in print, and both posters will soon be available in retail stores. I have a healthy inventory of each, and am making plans to reprint them if they should sell out rapidly under my new distribution deal.

I agree wholeheartedly about the Exodus Courier, Shipping Center, and Swamp Caves (IMHO, all 3 are shoe-ins for the Standard list), but I'm still not sold on the Desert Sanctum...it's just too wide open for my tastes. But the other 3 are great...when we play at my house, we use them all the time!

The one new map that my group has had a good deal of time on is Peaceful City, thanks to Matt bringing it to my regional. In play it reminds me of Muunilist, with a few long shots but deceptively closed. Gambit is protected in a unique way.

Exodus Class Cruiser is still my all time favorite map because of its beauty. I think it plays like the Train Station, with all of its doors. Like the Train Station, gambit is open yet blocked from long shots unless you get a series of doors open. Unlike the Train Station, gambit is easier to access and protect from the left. I think it should fall into the same category.

AG7's Mustafar is another beautiful map, and I like that one as well. The problem I see is that Force Pusher squads would have a definate advantage on it.

I agree that Mustafar gives an advantage to Pushers, however, this is the Standard Maplist we're talking about, not the Restricted. Because of the nature of the Standard list, there will inevitably be some maps that give certain squads/squad-types a definite advantage, and that's okay. Maps on this list are good and fairly balanced, but they don't need to be as balanced as maps on the Restricted list. IMHO, AG7's Mustafar is an excellent canditate for the Standard Maplist.

Yeah, I was actually advocating putting Mustafar on the standard list. I was just trying to be objective in my choices and list any abuses.

I got to know TINT much better at GenCon this year and I assure you all, in no way is he advocating drug use.

On the other hand, they DO have a different health care system up there in Canada...

Yeah, and we get Nascar. Both sports have people who are dentally challenged; in hockey, it's the participants. In Nascar, it's the fans.

Yeah, you can laugh. I actually AM a Nascar fan. I took my wife and kids to time trials at Pocono a few years ago, and I am not kidding you... there was more teeth in my family than the entire grandstand section we were sitting in.

Both of my boys ended up playing hockey, go figure.

Seriously TINT, it was great to get to know you better this year. I can't wait until next year either!

Having just ordered Map pack 3 & 4, I look forward to having a semi informed opinion.

Even if the force push armies have an advantage on Mustafar, Gambit can be advanced to and held from positions that aren't beside pits. It's one of the things I made sure to address when I designed the map. The number of pits is meant to be attractive for push, not broken.
