Jonny, I posted my character but it is not finished. I still have to look up the licenses he would need to run a transport and pay all the fees. During the Dark Times it was expensive to own a ship. Oh, and I upgraded the YT-2400 so it is no longer stock. I used the DT's laws so the vessel is currently legal.

I am fine with you having wealth because of its during the dark times and it fits your character. I really dont think you will use it the ways that have killed our game in the past.

Jonny, the license fees and requite skill checks as follows:
arms load-out permit (Starship weapons): 1,400 credits, 4 DC15 Knowledge (bureaucracy)
arms permit (Model 434 blaster pistol): 65 credits, DC15 Knowledge (bureaucracy)
captain's accredited license: 500 credits, DC15 Pilot
droid license x4: 645 credits, 4 DC10 Knowledge (bureaucracy)
ship's operating license: 1,000 credits, DC10 Knowledge (bureaucracy)
ship registration: 6,500 credits, DC10 Knowledge (bureaucracy)

Since the character has Knowledge (bureaucracy) +11 and Pilot +15, can I take 10 and pass all these checks or do you want me to roll for them like the book says?

The standard license information is on page118 of the core book, the ones to operate starship are on page 10 of the starships of the galaxy book.

I just realized that this character has contacts so he can avoid all the fees less than 7,000 credits.

I wasn't to worried about it. I need any 2 rolls not equal to 1 or any 1 roll higher than 2. I will use that site though I think (as I got good rolls for the droids HP)

Speaking of which, how does everything look on the droid jonny?

If you do play a droid remember that everything you purchase is illegal since droids are not allowed to own anything because they are considered property, even if they are independent.

Can you tell me where that is? I looked all over the core book and couldn't find it.

Edit: I looked it up and there is no rule that specifically states what I said above. But it is implied. If you read the section on droids as property on page 44 of the Scavengers Guide to Droids it states that Droids have no rights. And because droids have no rights, they do not have the right to own property (a natural right in the US). Thus if they can not own property they can not purchase something because buying something transfers ownership of whatever is being bought from the seller to the buyer. Therefor Republic and Imperial law prohibits droids from owning property.

An independent droid gets around this by lying and pretending the purchase is on behalf of an organic which means forging documents or getting the items off the black market to avoid the paperwork.

I'm sure the next question is "how is it that droid bounty hunters in Star Wars get paid?" Good question. My only answer is that who'd be foolish enough to try to cheat an assassin? In practical terms, no legal bounties would ever be given to a droid.

That being said, all the GMs that I play with in line read the section I mentions above as I stated, but the final decision on this matter is up to Jonny so he will have to weigh in...

That's fine, if that is the case it just sucks. Instead of it being 9000 it becomes on the shy side of 13500 for the droid.

Or is it just things the droid possesses/buys in the future and not existing components? (read the back story if you are in the mood for a long winded and incoherent reason for all the systems to be on the droid)

I believe you would still have the equipment that the stock model had without the added cost. It is only after the droid becomes independent that you have to deal with owning items, before then the master purchased the items and the droid used them...

Considering how powerful droid characters can be the illegal cost of goods helps balance them.

Yeah, and I can understand why it would be difficult for a droid to purchase anything on its own (hence why I do not plan on buying much for it :P). I am just curious as to wither or not the components listed on the droid currently would be effected.
