I have up to 20+ guys go in a round that means he can do it that many times which I think is crazy.

Assuming they actually hit us and damage us....yes. Unfortunately, my character is a direct counter to his. I think it'll be fine...

Besides, I think healing outside of battle is tedious and slow, this will actually speed things up for us.

If you are worried about speed, how about instead of making it his choice, make it the player character with the lowest HP within range (that qualifies)? That way he doesn't have to type and you can just say "ok, you take damage, you heal X hp." One sentence at the end of an attack isn't going to kill anything.

What ability are you all talking about? I can not find a talent called heal, only healing boost that increase the HP gained when using vitality transfer, can someone give me a book and page so I can read it?

[edit] Are you talking about the Selkath special ability Able Healer? If so the book has it listed to once per encounter for the bonus HP.

I'm pretty sure you can only use the heal ability, which is called Render First Aid btw, once per encounter per person. You can use Vital Transfer as many times as you have the force power in your suite.

That does seam powerful. I e-mailed Gary Sarli since I don't know any of the authors of the Jedi Academy book to see what he thought of the ability and what he would do to balance it. I will let you all know if I hear anything (we are only acquaintances so he does not always answer my e-mails).

Well, considering Tyia Adepts would be REALLY boring characters otherwise...

There always has to be a good balance when your character can't kill enemies...

Again people, chill out until we see it being abusive in the game. We have seen nothing like that as of yet. This is not Jonny's decision alone. Nerfing in game rules requires the agreement of the players. We leave it as is until we see a real problem with it, not a conceptual one. There are plenty of devastating combos in the RPG. We hit one one just this week. Comboing grapple with the -3 levels on the condition with the droid for an instant knock out on a single character. That is far more abusive than 9pts of healing, especially when we will be taking 30-40dmg per hit (and more than one hit per turn) soon enough. Sure, his healing will go up, but it won't ever match the damage we take. And his character doesn't do much of anything else. It might work really well as a function of our larger group, but that's simply a well designed character, not an abusive character.

I agree, let his character do what he's designed to do.

And the wookiee/droid combo was entirely by accident too! I didn't know the droid could do the -3 immobilized enemies, but it sure was handy, lol. As far as I'm aware, the wookiee can gain no other -1 Track modifiers outside of cases where his damage overcomes the target's Threshold, which will be rare, since he'll never do the insane amount of damage that other classes do....and I don't think you can "crit" on a grapple check for double damage with the Crush feat.

And to think that I almost made an axe-wielding charging/cleaving machine! Grappling is SO much more fun. :)

Playing a Tyia Adept by the story elements is one thing, playing a Jedi that has access to there abilities could be something different. It all depends no if the character fights or only supports the other characters.

If he never uses his lightsaber, don't do anything.

Dont know whether I should join in the topic currently underway, however, my character is built as a support character. As such he will not do much if any fighting. Maybe he can use some force powers to do damage but that is not the main focus of the character. As for the healing ability (sorry as the topic was already over) it isn't necessarily healing rather granting bonus HP which makes my characters job as a medic much easier for healing dmg later (and the max I can grant is 5+Cha mod with a max of +11 for my character). Keep in mind though, I can only grant those HP to characters w/in my line of sight and w/in 12 of me. BTW same goes for battle meditation, only characters w/in 12 get the bonus and only if they remain w/in 12 (in which battle meditation will become even more useful w/ my next technique Force Revive). I guess well see how the talent plays out, however I don't feel that it is overpowered.
