After using minimanager to open a random booster from each set the most interesting R/VR pulls were Emperor Palpitine, Rancor, Young Kryat Dragon, and Han in STA. Decided to build a NR squad around Han.

This is what I came up with quick. Feel free to cut it to pieces or even suggest an entirely different squad based around one of the random pulls.

Mara
Han in STA
Jaina
Talon
AA x3
Ug x3

good squad...and good luck

if it's a sealed tourny why not use Emp and Mara?

DCI sanctioned draft? and you pulled all that?????? Wow.

I use Han, RH with Mara, he's a good accurate shooter than can more than hold his own, he also makes mara a decent shooter and ups the damage potential so Mara and Jaina can kill bane in 2 activations.

Homer,

I really like this build and have used variations with it (with HanTaun as I didn't have St at the time and I personally like HT better).

Having said that this squad is great.

Mara/Jaina work well with Han ST and Talon gets you Recon/Reservers possibly will "Disrupting" your opponent - you could sub your AA's and Ugo's for Lobot but he's probably an easy kill.

Other than that - I like it. Best of luck in your first DCI Game!

I was considering Lobot since I'm going to have to bring his reinforcement options in case I get an 11 for Karrde. If I just want door control and don't feel like thinking about reinforcements I can drop AA x3 and Ug x2 to add Lobot then have him bring AA x2 and Ug x2 in so I'll basicly have swapped an AA for Lobot.

EDIT:

Its not sealed or draft. I was getting into a rut of using the same pieces over and over and wanted to start using some of the stuff i haven't played before. So now before I build my squad I use the random booster option on mini manager to open a booster from each set. I try to build my squad around one of the R/VR I get from that.

What you've got there is pretty much the standard 'Crubls' build, and it's a pretty solid one. Just remember that you can't combine Charging Fire with Lightsaber Assault. If Mara wants to attack 4 times, she can only move 6 squares.

its a good build. I think the 3 AA's and 3 uggies are a good replacement for lobot.

So that's what Crubls is? I've seen the name on here, but never bothered finding out what it was.

Yeah, I know. I spend enough time on the rules boards so I've seen people asking about using LA with Charging Fire. I'm planning to have Mara charge 12 and do a regular twin. Then the next turn hopefully be able to move 6 and LA. Otherwise 12 and twin again.

Nice having my squad ready early for a change. Maybe this time I'll even remember to pick my map before I get to the store to play.

This is one of my favorite ways of squad creation. Whenever I am playing for fun, especially against my daughters, I will give them a nice squad and then randomize one for me.

Don't want to hijack the thread, just wanted to voice my support for this type of squad.

Also, Crubls, huh? Wondered what that was.

When I first tried I used the mixed booster option to just get a R/VR from any set, but I gave that method up after I got the Battledroid on STAP 4 times in a row. My current version of one booster from each set has worked out better. Then I can choose from the R/VR I haven't tried yet.

My sqaud for this week is even better for that since I think the Ugnaughts are the only piece in it I've used before.
