After a new set comes out my LGS likes to run a tourny using only pieces from the new set. I was hoping I'd pull Whorm Loathsom so I could use him, the Battle Droid Sergeant, and some other stuff from the set to boost the 2 B3 Ultra Battle Droids I'd be getting. I didn't get Whorm in my case so I had to come up with something else. The first thing I came up with is below. I'm very open to suggestions for improvement, but keep in mind this has to be built completely from my one case of GaW. I have the expected 4 of each C, 2 of each UC, 1 of each R and 4 (Cad Bane, Mar Tuuk, Argyus, Hondo) of the VR to work with.

Cad Bane 54
Captain Argyus 29
Elite Senate Guard 18
Elite Senate Guard 18
Treadwell Droid 10
Aqualish Technician 8
R7 Astromech Droid 8
5 points unused

New Squad:
66 Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi General
54 Cad Bane
10 Rodian Trader
10 Treadwell Droid
8 R7 Astromech Droid
2 points unused

I can't legtimize using the Senate Guards, as much as the BG is cool and all the Heavy Weapon would slow you down significantly.

I would go with something more versatile like maybe Bane + General Skywalker. A lot of points but say you throw in a Rodian Trader, and R7, and a bunch of cheap activations for healing/outactivating.

That squad is just a sitting duck essentially, which if you are fine with is cool and all, but it doesn't have much in the way of offense when your opponent could just stand 1 square out of LOS and be completely safe from all but Argyus and Bane.

At the very least, I would go with the Senate Commandos instead of the Elite Senate Guards. At least you can move them back into cover afterwards.

Also, I'd have a REALLY hard time not running Flobi. In a closed environment where there's no direct counter for him....I think he's likely one of your best bets. Obi and Rex, or Obi and Cad, or heck, even Obi and Anakin.

joelker41 - I was thinking I needed the ESG to BG for Bane because his HP are on the low side. I thought about using the Rodian Trader, but when the build is limited to only GAW pieces I can't add too many with my lowest point option being 8 points.

LoboStele - I might go with Flobi + one of the other Uniques. Depending on which Unique and what the point total ends up I might be able to fill out the rest of the squad with the Rodian and my 2 R7's just because I think giving Healing to my Override droids would be funny.

Battle Droids are 4 points and you should have gotten 4 in your case. ;)

I meant for a Republic squad. If I went Seps I could fill the squad with Battle Droids since for these builds we can use older versions of reprint pices like Battle Droids.

I walk all over Flobi with Vong.

Yes, but this squad was talking about just GAW pieces. So no Vong to help you there. ;)

I used the Obi/Cad squad tonight and went 3-0 with it. Hardest squad I faced was Obi/Rex.
