Interesting DCI rules update. I haven't finished studying it yet, and I'll definitely need to focus on the new map options.

I do have a question, though. I've not had time recently to keep up on all the threads here and on WotC, so maybe I've missed something...but what's the reasoning behind requiring multiple-customs to have a corresponding stat card (i.e. each Uggie with a different colored suit needs its own card; each un-paired Mouse Droid needs its own card; each Stormtrooper/Clone with a different pose needs its own card)?

You only have to have the card if your opponent makes a fuss about it, honestly. You don't have to have those cards on the table while playing. It's just a way to cut-down on abuse of customs. There was a thread going around at one point about cutting up mouse droids, or cutting apart R5 Droids to make extra Mouse Droid pieces, and that would end up as basically just stealing from WOTC. People wanted to make customs so they could get a bunch of mouse droids, rather than going out and buying the things. So, the suggestion was made to re-write the rules so that you could use customs if you wanted to, but you had to basically prove that you had purchased the actual miniature at some point in the past if necessary.

You only need the card for customs. Repaints only need one card like colored uggies and things like that are fine with one card. Well that's the understand I got from talking to Dean about the rule.

What exactly is the new game text for SSM? I can't seem to find it anywhere. How is it better than Soresu Style, because Soresu Style already negates ranged attacks with a save of 11.

SS - non-adjacent which is like evade basically

SSM includes adjacent - so it's more like a free deflect

Thanks! I was wondering how they would make SSM different. This makes a lot more sense!

Now we will hopefully see an even larger return of melee peices thanks to this change. The last few sets have been dealing with melee quite well, but now that a Meta peice is changed to encourage melee to defeat GOWK, tournamet play will change also. It was a while in the making, but i'm glad the revised the ability.
