I went to the expense to not only print off the cards for my 181stminis that I kept the original color but I also went to the expense to paint the 181st pilots to the real colors they are supposed to be. What a pain. anyway my question

Has there been an update yet to make this card legal?

FYI never will I do this again.

This will not be legal until it shows up in an update to the DCI floor rules. Now remember, this is only if you are playing in an official DCI rules tourny. You could always play him in a WPN, casual, or tourny in which the TO says its OK all long as all the players understand that.

Maybe I over-looked it, but I cannot find where this card is not legal as of right now. If you look at the DCI Floor Rules, it reads:

604. Authorized Models, Stat Cards and Terrain Maps
All Star Wars Miniatures models released by Wizards of the Coast LLC are legal for tournament play. Players must have the official corresponding stat cards for all registered miniatures. Players using multiples of the same model need only one copy of the official stat card for those models, but still must provide a clear method for all players to readily know the status of each individual model. Players must make their stat cards available to opponents or tournament officials upon request.
Stat cards are interpreted using the official Star Wars Miniatures Game Rules and Official Errata. Errata can be found at: www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=swminis

At one point I believe this stated printed stat cards are not legal, but it does not mention that in any way now. It only stipulates official stat card, which the Elite AT-AT Driver is.

Going further, the newest Rule Book (Clone Wars) makes no mention of stat cards beyond the description of how to read it. The Errata also has no mention of official stat card, but does define Crack Gunner #, which only shows up on the Elite AT-AT Driver card.

To me, this means that the card is legal at this point. It is official, coming from WotC, and information on the card has been officially acknowledged in DCI related material (ie, the Errata).

Am I missing something here????

It's either in a different section of the Floor Rules, or it's in the generic DCI floor rules. I've seen it before. I'll try to look it up.

EDIT: Eh, crud. I only have the SW Floor Rules on hand at the moment. There's another thread around here somewhere discussing it...or over at WOTC.

2nd EDIT: Found this link over at Bloomilk that claims this discussion by NickName clarifies it: http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php? ... stcount=12

No idea for sure though, as I can't read the Gleemax thread at the moment. :)

The main DCI Tournament Rules points you to each game's Floor Rules. I did not see anything else in the SWM rules. If there is another thread on this it is buried way too deep as I couldn't find it....

Check my edit above and the link to the thread on WOTC.

Already did and it doesn't clarify anything since NN made his ruling on the basis that 'printed' cards are not legal according to the DCI Floor Rules. If it isn't in the Floor Rules anymore, then the answer needs clarified.

The DCI update may provide additional clarification...

Thanks. I was kind of fishing for info as to which way the winds were blowing on the issue. I hope it will become legal

The winds are blowing in the right direction, from what I've heard. There really isn't any reason for it to not be legal, it's really just a matter of making the floor rules be worded such that the Elite AT-AT driver card is the only printed card that can be legal.

I kinda enjoyed painting my 181st pilots.....it was my first ever paint job and while it wasn't completely easy it didn't take a surgeon's hand to pull it off. I'm happy with my output and I did 4 of them. I still need to print my cards out, but that handy PDF someone else created will do great. Too bad crack gunner isn't my type of play style, I'll never use them in a tourney.

Rob and his sneaky SAs that encourage having at least 4 of each :geek:
