Thanks Scott.

2nd part of the question still: Can the new character choose the Mettle that was granted by the force spirit?

No. They aren't the character that you chose with Light Spirit, etc. Essentially, Light Spirit is wasted if you replace the chosen character.

No, what I was saying is that when we start the game the new Han is within 4 of the ghost so thus gains mettle. Why couldn't I choose that as the SA of Hans that I want for my new Han?

I'm going to go with no.

Why it was one of his SA before he left the table? I just dont get it and just saying no doesnt help.

So following the thread thus far...

I believe it is safe to say that Yoda FS's CE would still be applicable to the Rebel or NR force users, in the event a swap via Versatility is executed?

Yes, as Yoda would still be in play.

My take on this, is that Han doesn't gain Mettle outright, only when within 4 squares of Spirit. It's situational. Is there any counting of range happening before a skirmish starts? If not, how can he be considered to have it at that point?

Actually, I assume it has more to do with what is printed on the card than the range.

Same question but rangeless would be if I have new Leia and Crix in the same squad and I swapped for leia cloud city, could I choose cunning +20 (the one granted from Crix)?

Since I can't choose mettle granted by the force spirit, then I also couldn't choose cunning +20 from Crix so it seems to be the precedent is that when you swap for versatility you can only take SAs printed on the card.

Is that correct Scott?

Good point.

What if Master Yoda had trained Han?
At that point he is considered to have it on his card.

Keeping it simple. At the point the figure is removed to be replaced, only Versatility affects the card, thus only the printed abilities will still be there, nothing granted will have an effect.

This all seems to be the most logical solution to me.

So the only reason you would ever do this is if you really needed a utility from the swapped character to compete (ie bringing Force Sense Leia vs Imp super stealth), knowing you're losing most all of the spirits usefulness.

The only use of a "detached" spirit is an activation and (Anakin or Yoda) the commander effect.

Then again most all rebel squads are gonna have more than one force user, and you would simply attach the ghost to another force user that you weren't swapping.

So effectively, this will virtually never come up now (which is just fine).

Agreed, simple as it can be. Thanks Scott.

Thanks Scott.

I agree that it would be unlikely to ever happen with a force ghost, but I could easily see a squad with Leia and Crix, or some other situation where it could actually make a difference.

So if versatility only affects what is actually printed on the card, then that is all I need to know.
