Is it the normal 1 hour time limit for Dynamic Duo?

(Yes, yes I know that most games finish in under 30 minutes)

Good question. Does anyone know?

I sure would hope that the time limit is no longer than 30 minutes. There are some players who will take the maximum amount of time every game, even if they only need half of it. I like the shorter time limit of Tile Wars because it avoids the shenanigans of certain players wasting the time of everyone else in the tournament.

Time limit for DD has always been 30 minutes, as far as I can remember.

Noting the irony of this statement... :P

One year at GC, the Tile Wars event ran into the early morning hours because of slow play issues, lol.

That is simply not true, I don't know why you're inventing that.

Isn't this your format?

I just looked in the floor rules, and it says nothing.

But - I did find the answer out in the GenCon catalogue - it's 45 min rounds.

As Trevor pointed out - TILE WARS has a strict time limit enforced, and it is very clear in the rules and integral to the game.

It's clear what it is this year at GenCon (only because it says it in the catalogue), but we might want to make it a be put into the floor rules as well.

I think I remember that time that Dennis is referring to. This was 2009, before the new strict time-limit was introduced. The Team Tourney had gone late, and then TW started after that. Most of the TW games were easily finished within 30 minutes, but there was a certain player who used nearly the full time allotment for every game. I remember that this experience was what led to the subsequent addition of the hard-and-fast time limit which we have now.

Personally, I can't imagine how a TW game can take longer than 30 minutes unless the players have never played SWM before or are extremely drunk and are passing out between rounds.

I have an even harder time imagining DD going longer than 30. You only have 2 figs. In TW you have 200 pts as many activations as you can fit.

DD virtually always comes down to an init or 2. TW is a lot more intricate and complicated, so it makes sense that it might take longer.

Someone taking 45 min in DD just needs to be smacked

I meant at GC.

Well, there ya go - I don't help make the rules about how events get set up at GC any more, and haven't for at least 3 years.

I had forgotten about the team tourney holding everything up. I just remember Jason and Gray coming back to the hotel at 4 a.m., and Gray subsequently sleeping through the Championship the next day lol.

2010, when I was co-GenCon Dynamic Duo champ, LOL, I believe all four rounds were done in just over 2 hours. Vader/Cad Bane FTW!
