Just to confirm/clarify, if the lancer is strafing and passes over a chameleon Droid. How many saves does it make? More specifically does the lancer count as adjacent even when occupying the same four squares as the the chameleon? So if passing by on a 2 wide hallway the lancer would not be able to move back into the same squares it has already entered and make a total of 5 saves for mines? Is this correct or is it less?

X=empty square

M=Mines affected squares
C=Chameleon

This is a very good question. I've always understood it as 5 saves, but I don't have 733T rules skilz, so I'll leave it to the experts to answer.

From what I remember from the Doombot tow interatction I believe Tint is right. Haven't seen anyone play a Chameleon in forever.

4 Saves. The squares actually occupied by the Chameleon do not trigger Mines. This is the same reason why Strafe was clarified to happen before the figure actually moves into the square the figure occupies.

I am unaware of any R2 interaction rulings, so I will have to double check.

Ok, thanks Sithborg!

One further question/scenario then: how many saves does the Lancer make if it moves over the Chameleon in such a way that the Lancer passes over 1/2 of the Chameleon, and 1/2 of the spaces beside the Chameleon? There are 2 extra Mines squares on that path, so does that mean 6 saves?

X=empty square
L=Lancer
M=Mines affected squares
C=Chameleon

Then it would be five, because part of it is still moving into an adjacent square.

Great, thanks for the clarification.

So it seems that it works this way: if any part of the Lancer enters a Mines square (even if it occupies more than 1 Mines square), then it has to roll 1 mines save.

Yup. And the mine squares are not the squares the Chameleon actually occupies.

Thanks for the clarification. This is good to know as a counter to the Lancer as well how to for the best way to strafe the chameleon. The Chameleon just became slightly more useful, now there's just the matter of countering that new Revan...

lol. YEah i think the Chameleon is one of the only true counters to the lancer. and the best part is they are the same faction. IF nothing else it is one of the more cost effective counters.
